Well, I still remember he was one the best players on the field when we played Juve both times. Nowhere near worth the price but they've improved their midfield enormously. I think there are a lot of churlish posts on here regarding this fella. He is a very good player.
Cheers mate
There are plenty saying he's a great player. To quote Nigel Pearson are we all still ostriches in this thread or is there any perspective that them red twats are getting a great talent?
Sky put their prices up every year.Yeah, I certainly recall in the home defeat he pulled the strings in the last 20 minutes or so when Juve got back in to it. The churlish posts are to be expected because he's going to them. The tone was entirely different this time last year but that's football fans for you. There are fans at every club that do it.
It's a huge amount of money but the fee is irrelevant really - United fans aren't going to see a premium slapped on their season tickets so why should any of them give much of a shit? If we were getting him, it would be raised eyebrows from me but that would soon pass.
He'll surely improve them but the reality is that United were always going to get their shit together eventually, plus the more important thing from our point of view is that we're in a very good place ourselves. Bring it on.
Can't tell if sarcasm. So it's 89 million. Not 100 million pounds. . Not 120 million euros. No agents fees. No add ons. No wages. Truly remarkable. Wish we could sign players on the same basis.
As United are paying the agent fees, they will book £20m less so needs adding on.Be interesting to see if Juve release the figures. You would think they'd like to show they sold him for more than they bought higuain for.
There is no such clause. United didn't sell him to Juve. He left at the end of his contract. What it doesn't mention is the kickback clause whereby the rags, are in effect, paying themselves.
Just like we did with with Sturridge? No. Never happened.True his contract had expired. but as I understand it because of his age at the time he left, plus the time he had spent with the Rags, it's classed as youth development and are entitled to a percentage of his next transfer fee.

There's nothing stopping them going out spending £30m on 3 good players next summer. Pogba was available this window and they've done what it took to get him. Agree with you that he's no game changer at the moment though. Isn't averse to dropping his team mates in it either if the opportunity to showboat arises. He's a great player who will obviously improve them. However they'd improve far more, in my opinion, if they bought 3 £30m players than Pogba for the same price (in reality he'll cost far more than £89m when you factor in agents fees etc). Pogba has the same issues to his game as Yaya does, when he's on form he's awesome, however too often he's mediocre. If you're spending that kind of money you should be getting a regular game changer, someone who can be relied upon game after game after game. Pogba isn't reliable enough to justify the fee. United are still looking at Blind for centre half, and Valencia as a full back. Top quality options in those positions, with tens of millions left over to strengthen elsewhere too, is a more sensible way to go than Pogba and a big hole in their bank account.
