Don't get me wrong, De Jong is a top player, and obviously younger and more versatile. But I do worry that he'd block the pathway for McAtee and Foden, who should move into midfield permanently in the next few years. I don't see De Jong ousting Rodri at 6 - I think we'd end up in a situation where we have him, Foden, Bernardo and McAtee all demanding to play a majority of games at the same time.

Pogba could come in, plug a gap for 3 or 4 years and move on. If he struggles, sell him after a year or two and at worst, break even. His wages won't be higher than De Jong's. He'd have a point to prove.

Also, I want Bellingham in a couple of years, and I imagine the club do as well.

The fly in the ointment is Bernardo - Bellingham could replace him from next summer onwards but this summer it would probably be Rice or bust.

We'll probably sign De Jong, he'll be incredible and someone will dig this post up and laugh at it. I certainly hope so.

We’ll be losing Fernandinho, Gundogan and maybe Bernardo within the next 1-2 years with the first already on their way out this summer. Always good to be ahead of the game in terms of recruitment.

Agreed, but getting too far ahead causes problems.

I'd love De Jong. I worry that we'd end up wishing we'd spent the money on a full back instead (again).
 
Agent pushing this so utd cough up more money/better terms.

I hope people on here don't fall for it like they did with Ronaldo.

The wages of Haaland and the possibility of De Jong's will be big enough. Imagine with Pogba's too.

I don't believe these leaked stories from Pogba's camp. He is one of the laziest players I have ever seen. He can't even trap the ball properly. The biggest fraud ever to be involved in English football. Off the field he is a total ****. His career stats at all his clubs show he is bang average, even in the Italian pub league. The media hype around him is absurd. He would be a disaster at City.

Pogba is not staying at United. Mino offered him to us during the Haaland talks.

I would take him if his head was right and his body held up.
