I saw him angrily chuck his guitar at one of the stage crew at the Albert Hall a good few years back.
The Style Council were Quality.
Stanley road is a brilliant album.Paul Weller has been living off the Jam legacy for nearly 50 years. His solo albums have been average at best, and the Style Council stuff never lived up to initial expectations.
He's still hyped beyond belief by the music media... I really don't understand why.
Style Council were class as were the Jam.A very big change and jump from being in the jam, it took a long time for loads of the jam fans to understand.
Early-style council still had the message (anti-government) it just sounds different,
Stanley road is a brilliant album.
I don't understand why because it was from 30 years ago it's somehow diminishes how good he is. Frank Sinatras best work was in the 50s but he was always considered to be brilliant throughout his career. From nearly 30 years ago. .
It's all about opinions obviously, but even his very best solo work was over a quarter of a century ago!
As I say, I just can't understand why the music media makes such a fuss about him.

He loved soul music and wanted a change of direction.Yep
But it took me a while to understand why he split the jam up to form the Style Council
Very fair comment.I don't understand why because it was from 30 years ago it's somehow diminishes how good he is. Frank Sinatras best work was in the 50s but he was always considered to be brilliant throughout his career.
