Peaky Blinders

Really good programme, series 2 was excellent. Some of it was filmed round Manchester as well!

Did the gangsters really carry guns in them days?
That's what i was going to ask... do any of our BM historians know whether the level of gun crime was so high back at that time or whether the BBC are just aiming their product to the American market?

If it's the latter i don't think i'll bother watching further series of Peaky Blinders (i've watched Series 1 and 2 so far) because all i think about when watching it is "has there ever been so much gun crime in this country?"

Ruined it a bit for me!

I think we'd have heard about it if it was accurate.

I do like the programme, but think it's run its course. There's only so many times and angles you can shoot a street film set from, there's only two. And now Sam Neill's gone, it's less edgy.

Yes, and knives, razors, knuckle dusters were carried as normal, rich gangsters had all their teeth out and metal ones put in like jaws, they were hard bastards as well not like the wannabees of today

Same deal in my City and where the term No Mean City was coined. Although to be fair, we still have a fair gallery of rogues keen on mayhem. A war between two of the top teams is currently raging. No quarter exists.
