Peaky Blinders

I agree. It's gone very "dark" and the usual "beat them up, twat them, we are the peaky blinders and we win everything" went two series ago imho.
Yet isn't that how life often is?
Quite like how this series is building to be honest, just hope the finale is as good as any other finale. And more ;-)
Think the last series pissed me off a bit by using the Oswald Mosley character (because anyone who knows their history knew how that finale would pan out), yet I suppose it was "necessary" to do so, considering where this series is going.
Makes you wonder about the history of some present day MPs

I know im in a minority but i think its crap. First couple of series were ok but i thought it ended a bit cringeworthy.

and i know its fiction but when they introduce real life characters i want them to be factual and not total bollocks

First couple of series were OK but lost interest when the Russians got involved. A poor man's Boardwalk Empire imo.

Just watched a 2 part documentary on the ' real peaky blinders '...fascinating watch, cant remember the channel but it's out there.
I think it was BBC. Excellent two part documentary with some great old photographs/film.
They mentioned the origins of the name and yes apparently the razor blades are a myth.

The writing is really poor. They can come up with a major story arc for the season, which can be quite good, but episode to episode things are really poor before it all comes together very late on.

Particularly in the later series the whole thing is just a series of musical montages interrupted with the same arguments the main characters have been having for 5 years. How many scenes can revolve around Tommy not speaking to Lizzie? How many angry marches into the countryside can you shoot?

They ran out of stories for Arthur a long time ago, I think id be embarrassed as the actor just popping up in one scene an episode for 3 seasons just to show everyone you’re still drunk or high and still incapable of doing anything.

They’ve been given 6 seasons to develop a huge world of characters but haven’t been able to come up with a simple B plot with those characters to complement the main story.
I preferred the music in the earlier seasons when, for example, the White Stripes would be played when there was going to be a tear up.

I agree that the writing is a bit misguided, trying to maintain so many of the same main characters more or less every season. It also feels like a bigger part has been shoehorned in for Gina, following Polly’s passing.

As other posters have written, it feels that so much effort goes into a season / series ending finale that it reduces the quality of earlier episodes. Hopefully the last episodes kick up.

Its a shame because I think a fair amount of the Peaky Blinders has been brilliant.
