Pellegrini extends contract

mind if I ask what was your opinion on him in his 1st season and being the first manager to win a league and cup double? and also why has your opinion changed as we ONLY came 2nd in the PL. Cup games take the piss in my mind RE pelle (fielding a weak team, not alot of care) but why dont you have faith in a man who won us 2 trophies in his first season?
He got lucky winning the double in his first season .
We didn't exactly do it in style did we .
He relied a lot on Chelsea beating Liverpool to win us that title .
That spell we had between February and March last season convinced me he should go .
Let's see how he does this season .
It's a risk keeping him .

I don't think he'll be our manager this time next year if I'm honest. It depends how well this summer's signings perform though.
Up to this summer, he's spent over £140million on Navas, Fernando, Fernandinho, Mangala, Negredo, Caballero and Jovetic.
I'd only regard Fernandinho as a real success out of those. Maybe Mangala will have a better season and prove to be good value.

Pretty much how I see it. Not sure he has learnt much about setting teams up but we have him this year so lets hope a good summer's rest has reinvigorated the old fella.

Obviously opinions differ. For a long period of the 13-14 season i saw the best attacking football I've seen personally for years. Obviously to win titles you need luck, there's no debate about that and Liverpool came close but there inexperience and early celebrations they deserved to fall at the last hurdle. It was either us or Liverpool who deserved the title and so it was us. No way we were 'lucky' to win our two trophies at all.

We will see how he does and I have the most faith that we will win a trophy/trophies this season with him in charge.

Still reckon negredo was good value for what he did upto January of course half a season isn't very good but how many goals did he score 23 goals in 40 odd appearances? I still agree with you that Fernandinho is the only quality signing he did make. But this summer looks like the signings we have made are all quality - will just have to see what they are like when it matters.

S
We did. Setting goal scoring records while winning 2 trophies would satisfy most people's definition of 'doing it in style'.
So you would say Chelsea doing us a favour was doing it in style .
He made mistakes even in that season .Look i hope Pellergrini does well next season . But he's too attacking for is own good .

Bit harsh mate, most would say we played with loads of style that season....lots of blues saying some of the stuff we played that season was up there with the best football seen by us, especially at home.
The league would have been won long before had we not spunked silly points early doors at Cardiff and Villa from winning positions....that set us back until we hit the top around Xmas (?) and we were always playing catch up due to having games in hand constantly.

That's what i mean he goes too attacking away from home .
That's why we always get suckered by counter attacks .
