So you would say Chelsea doing us a favour was doing it in style .
He made mistakes even in that season .Look i hope Pellergrini does well next season . But he's too attacking for is own good .

Chelsea didn't do us a favour. We scored more points than second place and consequently won.

The motive behind this announcement today is clearly obvious, but irrespective of what the media may think and surmise, officially next season won't be his last and they'll soon get bored of asking the same thing over and over and move on once the football starts.

On another note, I was in my office this afternoon talking to a Rag season ticket holder client and during our conversation he received a text and said to me 'Dunno if its a wind up, but a mate of mine's just text me to say Pellegrini's just extended his contract wayyyyheyyyy!!!!'. Surprise was my first reaction, but my Rag and Dipper colleagues all said no-way, or words to that effect and the race was on to confirm it on the web.

One of our resident Rags shouted 'It's true', and the whole office full of Dippers and Rags started celebrating and shouting YESSSSSS!!!! I suppose it shows what some direct-opposition fans think about our manager. Personally, I posted just a couple of days ago that there was no-way I thought the club would get rid of him so close to the season start and no way would I have wanted them to as it would have ruined our season before it even started.

The chance to dispense with Pellegrini came and went within a month of the season ending, to start changing the manager after this point would have been madness IMO. The pre-season formations shows that Pellegrini has been told from above to ditch 442 IMO, because I can't see him changing the habit of a lifetime especially after all and sundry were screaming out for a change throughout last season and he stubbornly refused to listen until an injury crisis forced his hand and when we were in serious danger of missing out on a top four finish. It's baffling why we had to wait until six matches before the end of the season to do the obvious and what made most sense, but hey it was Pellegrini's call to make.

Anyway it is what it is and I'll get behind the team for the coming season as alway. Our defence has continued to look a nervous shambles throughout pre-season, but I hope once the first ball is kicked in anger that it all comes good for all our sakes.

Think about it we need a big season this year if we win the league he may stay but this is purely to keep press of his back .

I don't think he'll be our manager this time next year if I'm honest. It depends how well this summer's signings perform though.
Up to this summer, he's spent over £140million on Navas, Fernando, Fernandinho, Mangala, Negredo, Caballero and Jovetic.
I'd only regard Fernandinho as a real success out of those. Maybe Mangala will have a better season and prove to be good value.

I think what we have to keep in mind here is that some of these signings were made with one hand tied behind our backs with FFPR.

I always felt like Mancini before him after previous success he deserved the opportunity to put it right. Our last two managers have both favoured the 4-4-2 so I can only conclude they must have both considered with the players available, and the way teams set up this gives us the optimum chance of winning.

What we have never had, in comparison to previous seasons, is more flexibility provided by Sterling, who can play anywhere upfront if the need arises. Last year I moaned the loss of Sanchez because to lose a striker, you need a player who can contribute goals out wide, and if you get rid of a striker, and therefore limit your options a player who can fulfil that role in the event of injury. Sterling is our Sanchez and consequently we can afford to get rid of a striker. For the last two seasons we have had either 3 strikers, who can only play the centre forward role so you can see why the default setting was two up top, as otherwise we would have had a lot of wasted talent sat on the bench and also question marks where the goals would come from as Navas, Nasri, Silva or not the most prolific scorers. Sterling I think will hit 12-15 league goals this year and that will make a big difference.

I think it's more to do with the players than the press. The press will write shit whatever we do but it helps the players stay focussed if they think they're playing for a manager who could be here next season rather than for a dead man walking.
