Pellegrini extends contract

Strange desire to see a manager sacked at the start of a season. Pellegrini might not be the perfect manager, but he won 2 trophies first season and I don't think the players performed consistently enough (apart from Sergio, of course) last time around to square all the blame on the boss. Yet we still came 2nd. Also don't forget the spending limitations we had.

Strange a rag is happy with this, too.
I suppose with them finishing two places above us last season it gives them confidence, Oh wait a minute.....:)

I'm not as shocked as many people on here about this extension, I'm pretty sure a few weeks ago/month or so ago that when he was asked about his contact pellers said something like you never know I might even sign a new contract, I do t think I dreamt it, but then again I dreamt a plane got struck by lightning last night and crashed next to me house...

I think rags celebrating Pellegrini staying on is a bit ironic.
I've bought a Muslim prayer mat, a golden Buddha and an ornament ganesh. I pray daily to every available religion that the drunken turtle stay at the swamp for as long as possible.

L. Ron Hubbard shouldn't be discounted here either.

+ 1.

At least, someone has seen the light in here... :-)

I think its a bit naive to expect the media hype to just go away. The first bad result ,the first ill conceived managerial decision, the first bumbling post match excuse and they''ll be all over him like a pack of wolves. If Pep's deal is done then the worst kept secret is not going away.? So its not really a tactical masterstroke is it??

The Pep deal is itself nothing more than speculation, mainly among City fans it would seem. So yes, it might just help a little and particularly if (shock horror) Mr P has a good season.

Extending the contract is the best thing to do irrespective of the possibility of a Pep deal,
If it is not going to happen then better the devil ADUG know whilst they look for the right manager or conversely if the deal is done the timing can be negotiated better.

Last time I looked Pellegrini had a premier league trophy and league cup to his name, van Gaal has the square root of fuck all. I know which one id rather have in charge. The turtle headed ones stock was high when the likes of Kevin Keegan and Peter Taylor were seen as good managers.

So the general consensus seems to be that he's been given this contract extension to...

1. Keep the media off his back about Guardiola, and
2. Stop the players from possibly slacking off when they think he's not going to be around next season.

My only issue with this viewpoint is that loads on here think this is the case and have seen through this ruse but they're not expecting the media & the players to do the same.
