well, on the surface it's clever as it derails insane levels of sPepculation during the season but if we've cracked the cunning move inside 3 minutes then the press will see straight through it and continue to hound Pellers as before.

It's possible that it's to draw attention away from a potential Guardiola arrival, but that's pure speculation. If we win the Premier League this season I suspect they'd struggle to replace him and save face.
Never ending speculation is not good, even if the end result would be very palatable for most bluesVery odd unless, as wiser people than I have said, there is a break clause after a year.
It's the best way to end speculation, put to bed the Pep talk for a year and allow Pellegrini to get on with it.
I'm not entirely convinced on Pep but he takes us to another level in terms of club appeal - one of the two most renowned Managers out there and City will be very attractive with him running things with his old pals. I'd also like to see Vieira added to the first team coaching setup with Pep. Two brilliant former players who clearly have a good relationship as you could see when Paddy went over to Munich last season. A wealth of knowledge, experience, fight, determination and medals in those two that will really inspire our squad.

Winning the double in his 1st year and with restrictions in his 2nd and still coming 2nd I'd say you're right mate.

Congrats MP! Think it was right with what he has achieved so far... Hope that now he has settled, we will see Less of his naive tactics!

I'd say this is to head off the Pep speculation for the season and is largely meaningless.
That would be a good thing as it means we can concentrate on the football this season without the inevitable distractions. However unless there is a break clause I can't see City needlessly paying out a high wedge to Pellers if Pep is coming next season? I'm in two minds about this...

Will stop a lot of Guardiola talk all season that may be a distraction and will give Pellegrini a big pay off at the end of next season instead of leaving at the end of a contract with nothing. Nice touch by the club because it won't be a small sum, sacked managers get millions! Win-win-win all round, for us, him and Guardiola.

Would still take Pep in a heartbeat. Anyway, good business by the club. Keep the pressure and the media away. It's so nicely quiet around, everyone has arsenal or chelsea as champions, now they can't even annoy us with trainer questions.
