I'd rather Txiki explain why we replaced the World Class Carlos Tevez with the injury plagued Jovetic.

Tevez was miles off world class when we sold him. He was overweight and hadn't influenced games properly for nearly two years. He was also a troublemaker who saw himself as bigger than the club, and a player who's abilities went directly against what the team tried to do: he is all about the solo run, not the retention of the ball. There's not a cat in hell's chance I'd swap him back.

I know the thread ain't really about this and I can see the reasons why Tevez was moved on but I've gotta dispute that point - Tevez's ball retention is exceptional.

Trouble was he retained it for himself first and then thought about a pass, slowed many quick breaks down IMO.

Blue Moon Rising was fair because it criticised how badly Mancini's arrival was handled. Sadly the approach for Pellegrini was also leaked but he wasn't formally appointed until the summer. The club were its own worst enemy back then with the PR disasters and thankfully those embarrassing stories are no longer appearing.

I thought we had already established that the "leak" came from Spain and from a top Club ??
Where's that come from
Have you got a link?

I remember people saying on this very forum that it had been leaked by either Barca or Real, due to a transfer we wanted to complete.

I suppose the best thing is for us to watch the programme and see quotes in context instead of basing our opinions on daily mail quotes.

Yes we should but it does demonstrate the idiocy of mentioning Mancini in a negative context at all no matter how innocuous the actual quote or the context given the first thing the Mail did was take it and spin it as the basis of the article. What the club should do from the top to the bottom in what is essentially a PR exercise is promote a positive message about the club and its future and celebrate its immediate past under the stewardship of Sheikh Mansour. Its been a glorious 5 years etc etc. The club has been transformed and has tasted tangible success on and off the pitch and we gave thanks to all those involved even Hughes (spotting the leadership qualities in Kompany and bringing him on board for example). What you don't do is have the DoF moaning Hughes was incompetent and signed RSC for ffs. Article one is all about how the 'new' City identified the worlds best CB and bought him for a song and the second article is about incompetent managers spunking millions on a guy with no knees.

It is PR for the club and not for Txiki to tell everyone how wonderful he is or for the kitman to vent his animosity at Mancini. Do we get the Chelsea kitman going on telly to give his views on AVB? Or the Spurs kitman? Or Liverpool's under Rafa? How many fucking times do we have to see Chappers pop up and moan about Mancini? Hughes is incompetent. Mancini is a c**t. But promote the best bits for public consumption and privately say what you want.

Finally Its baffles me how clubs allow this sort of access and don't spot the pratfalls. Whats the first thing that you remember about 'Being Liverpool'? Its the Brentisms and the giant portrait of himself that Rogers hung in his house. Cue a year of ridicule.

If we had kept Tevez the premier league would already be at the Etihad. His ball control was fantastic and linked with our most skillful players great. Yes he could be an arsehole but he was a go to man in the big games and his work rate was second to none.

How about waiting until after the programme has been been broadcast? The DM has a track record of bias against City and it could all have been taken out of context.

Some of us have already seen the programme. It isn't taken out of context

I remember people saying on this very forum that it had been leaked by either Barca or Real, due to a transfer we wanted to complete.

The first leak came in February out of Chile. Duncan Castles confirmed in March the approach had been made along with an approach to Klopp (who was first choice after Pep). Txiki then got caught having lunch in public with Pellers agent (cue media frenzy). City tried to spin it by saying it was about players except that the agent according to Daniel Taylor (Guardian) didn't have any and then Barca (allegedly) put the boot in via Balague the day before (or the day of) the cup final - can't remember which. It wasn't Txiki's finest hour. There was a lot of excusing Txiki at the time but it did embarrass the club just as Hughes botched sacking was embarrassing.

But as with all things Mancini that was 10 months ago. Shit happens and all that.

I thought we bought Aguero to replace tevez when he decided he wasn't going to play for us anymore. How were we to know that he would do an about turn and come back when he realised that it was costing him to much money to play golf? We bought Jovetic when tevez made it clear that he didn't want to play for us and we decided that it was time to move ballo on.
