He said tomorrow. The press-conference will be in July.
Many won't believe it until we've had the 4pm press conference though.

My understanding is that he is on paid leave from Malaga until the end of the month and so cannot formally become involved with the press or any other matters MCFC-related until 1st July. It seems quite simple to me but what do I know! A club announcement to avoid any further confusion seems sensible and will doubtless have been agreed with Malaga who obviously need to secure a new manager without appearing to disrespect the former one. Can everyone please chill out now?

That seems very plausible. Given that Bergeristan's role covers the summer recruitment, Pellegrini might as well take the opportunity for a summer holiday before getting down to work.

I prefer it when we cut out the hype and deal with these things in a low profile way. New managers waving a club shirt about always looks a bit naff.

This is bollocks why isnt he announced already
Its like appointing a new ambassador to a country, certain rules have to be observed, its still bollocks though
There's an official day of mourning for the cat, so its been delayed further.
I nearly ran that fucker down on my mountain bike at the gates it was chasing a squirrel

From the BBC website:
0920: FOOTBALL
Incoming Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has already held a strategy meeting with sporting director Txiki Begiristain and chief executive Ferran Soriano before being officially announced in the role, reports the Daily Mail.

Why?
There might be a small problem with the contract - we may be spending time organising his entire backroom staff
He's on holiday he has worked all year it's not rocket science just be patient.
Why not organise your massive new job contract then go on holiday. Im sure he can afford the £200 cancellation fee

Pellegrini will become our manager and will be there for Pre season so why are some people keep going on about it should be announced?!

This. He probably will be the next City manager, but if it's as cut and dried as some on here insist, then why doesn't he just sign the damned contract and have done?

Maybe contractually he cant sign because still under contract to Malaga until 30th June if we announce anything we may have to pay compensation to Malaga. As far as I am concerned this is done and dusted, it would be nice to have the announcement and press conference but I ain't bothered provided our transfer business carries on and from what I have read it seems the meeting would be to iron out targets remaining.

Maybe he has signed it. Signing and announcing are not necessarily tied together. We might have agreed not to announce it until his gardening leave has ended (or whatever other reason).

Maybe I've missed something, but where has this "gardening leave" rumour emerged from ? I've only seen it posted on here.

Oh and why would he be on "gardening leave" anyway ? he's announced he's leaving, presumably we will have to pay some compensation to Malaga, so what would be the point of said gardening leave ?
