Pellegrini - The English Managers Syndrome

Plenty of occasions when I have read that Pellegrini is the beneficiary of Mancini's best signings, so it swings both ways if a few of those signings aren't up to it anymore.

Pellegrini is a reflection of the entire team and fanbase at present?

Tired, disinterested, frustrated and simply not good enough.

He will be guilty of the biggest missed opportunity in our history if we fail to win THIS league this season.

MP has done a fine job in completely demotivating practically the whole squad, lol.

I'm always loathe to have a pop at Merlin, due to my unadulterated love for the guy, however yesterday was the first time in his City career that he has seriously annoyed me.

Its a huge shock for us as fans to see him playing so poorly right now it really is but he has to step up to the plate and deliver far more for the side than he currently is. He is far from alone so this is not singling him out but right now its nothing defensively and not much more going forward.

I just hope that the demands a Pep system would place on him and the discipline needed to implement wont be too much of an ask but he is 30, not 24 and he is suffering now imo from the effect of numerous injuries suffered and the sheer pace of the PL.

He also looks completely fucked off with our form as a whole and his demeanour several times recently at being subbed makes me think he has had enough of Pellegrini and the system we are playing so lets hope peps arrival reinvigorates possibly our greatest ever player.

At times our players are ran past by athletes whilst we look like we have divers boots on.

Fernando yesterday after he came on was out paced by Song who had a full 80 mins under his belt and it was embarrassing.
I think its just the way our players play, they don't play quickly, so they aren't thinking quickly.

I don't think there is a fitness issue, we score so many late goals that it tells me that we're fit enough. We're still playing as though we have 75% possession every match, which doesn't need us to be charging around like athletes, you make the other team chase the ball. The trouble is our passing isn't working, and we rarely have possession like that any more, plus other teams are now playing in more direct ways against us. I think its a mental attitude problem more than a physical one.

To be fair to Fernando yesterday, Song was already running towards him, so he had to turn, and then compete with someone going at full pace, and Fernando isn't the quickest anyway.

He has demotivated me, as a fan, so fuck knows what the guys in the dressing room must think?

I can genuinely say that watching him and City these last 12 months has been a joyless experience and one which has actually turned me into an angry spectator. I hate watching this team. Nothing worse in this life than selling yourself short.

The only reason we are where we are is in spite of him, having players who are so good, they can still get results against most.

Fuck knows what he does in training there's no fight or hard work off the ball . Again we got battered in midfield and he does nothing about it till after the 60 min mark . Slow play slow build up always through yaya from the back . Away from home we can not play yaya silva n de bruyne there is not enough hard work off the ball I'd prefer a midfield 3 of delph and the two ferns with a front three of sergio Inacho n one from silva de bruyne or sterling to start with .

Likewise. The pitch probably didn't help, but he's looked bang out of form ever since he came back from that last injury. Yesterday was arguably worse even than his performance at Stoke. I wonder if a lack of options are hindering him as well, for example Zab and Kola not being around to overlap and Ya Ya not having the engine anymore to get up alongside Kun

I see your explanation but dont see it as an excuse for not charging around like an athlete as that and skill should be a minimum at this level for any player. Slow play has been with this squad for the last years to be fair so thats not a criticism of just Pellegrini.

You are right to bring up speed of thought, something that when we are in our pomp, especially around the box made us unplayable and record goal scorers but sadly its a facet of our game thats gone missing of late.
