Pellegrini - The English Managers Syndrome

This "easiest title" thing is a bit of a myth for me, it could in fact be the hardest to win, in a good few years, because 4 teams are directly involved with only 15 games to go, and all 4 are in similar form, with 2 outsiders to the recent top 4, suggesting its much more even through the league.

Today's Arsenal V Chelsea game could be key in the whole season, Chelsea have become more difficult to beat (5 unbeaten), and have found the knack of scoring again (13 in the last 5 games), so it shouldn't be easy for Arsenal.

No myth.

Even if we were to win our remaining 15 games that would give us an eventual points tally of 89.

That's 89 - the points we amassed in 2012 title.

And still only 5 points more than we needed to get the better of Liverpool? Memory fails me on that one.

Despite an improvement in the league, the drop-off from this team, coupled with a further £200m worth of investment, is a massive failing of the manager if we do fall short this year.

Leicester being where they are, even United, is more an indicator that City are the guilty party, same goes for Chelsea.

If we played how we know we can then we could have turned a lot of our draws into wins at least and be in a more comfortable position,mp and the team both carry the can for that
If we'd only win every game, then we'd be very comfortable :)

(The Everton v Swansea result kind of backs up that "easiest title" is a bit of a myth because the whole division is capable of getting a result anywhere else.)

I don't get this bit, why are they pissed off at Pellegrini ? Why are they not just going out there and doing it ?

I'm sure he's just as pissed off with them, as many are simply not performing.

Yesterday was a malaise, it looked like nobody wanted to take responsibility, on or off the pitch, it needs sorting, and quickly.

Its pure guesswork on my part, based on the body language of Silva in particular these last few weeks when being taken off, head shaking etc and the malaise as you rightly call it that affected the whole side. Im sure that players at this level are not too shy in coming forward and playing the blame game when the going gets tough and fingers will no doubt be being pointed.

It has to change as you say immediately, manager, coaches and players alike.

We'll have to disagree then, I think whoever wins it this year will thoroughly deserve it.

I'm looking at that whilst Leicester are a surprise package, they seem easily able to sustain it.
West Ham are getting results at places like ours, and others, and are 6th.
Spurs even though they've only lost three, are similarly erratic as we are, despite scoring the third most number of goals while conceding the least.
United have won 2 and lost 4 of the last 10, yet remain 5th.
Arsenal having their best season in a while, yet still aren't getting away.

Below that, anyone (bar Villa) seem to be able to beat anyone else, and nobody seems able to go on any sort of consistent run of wins, in the last 10 games the most anyone has won on the trot is 4, and that's Watford !

I just think that is a league that's harder to win, not easier, whether or not that is our manager or players failing is another debate, perhaps we're just not as good as we think we are, and we are still suffering an injury crisis that most haven't had.

It's frustrating because we know these players can improve on where they are . We haven't played well in most of our games this season we have had spells in games . I personally think we will miss out this season on the league due to our poor form against the top sides . Before yesterday I believe our form against the top 7 sides are played 6 won 0 drawn 2 lost 4 goals for 3 goals against 10 so that's 2 points from 18 add to that now our second league game against Westham last night.

As an oft supporter of the manager I do find the whole aspect of team selection the most puzzling. If he's going in the summer, why keep picking the same underperforming players week after week? Similarly, if he has the chance to stay, the same question applies.
Best away performance at Seville, saw a 3 of Yaya and the 2 Ferns, Navas and Sterling. Changing Bony for Aguero can only make it better. That team has never started since that night. I just hope, given the stick he gets, the manager is given a free choice of who starts.

He had no right to be shaking his head at the manager yesterday, he deserved to be taken off, so he needs to look closer to home.

That's true but no player should be happy to be hooked; I do though think it should be drilled into them how to behave when they are subbed: it's a team game and you should make way gracefully for whichever team mate is replacing you.

If you have a beef with the manager, take it up away from the glare of the cameras.
