Its a touchline ban, not a life ban from football. I think they have them radio things now from stand to dug out.

Not allowed any communication to the first team or the bench mate.

As a result, the City manager will be banned for his team's round of 16 second leg against Barcelona in Spain on 12 March. This means that Pellegrini may follow the game from the stands only; he may not enter the dressing room, tunnel or technical area before or during the match; and he may not communicate directly or indirectly with his players and/or technical staff during the game (Article 62(1) DR).

It may be the rule (I wasn't aware of it), but I'm fairly confident that there will be ways found around this, like having someone next to him in the stands, who disappears just before half time who has access to a radio/the dressing room, unless he's banned from talking to anyone in the stadium as well, perhaps Platini will tie the gag on personally.
