Pellers press conference

How come there wasn't the same pre-occupation with the number of trophies won by Moyes in his press conference?
Because it wasn't on the list of approved subjects as defined by united's PR dept.

It really is incredible that a handful of blues cannot spot the innate sense of bias within the media, especially the written press, in spite of manifest supporting evidence.

None of these spineless charlatans would dare write such a sneering, derogatory article about united. Herbert, like bullies and cowards always do, picks on City because he knows he can do so with impunity.

I wouldn't mind quite so much if his writing style wasn't so laboured and dreary.
Oh i can see it, but it makes me laugh how so many people are so sensitive to it and get all shirty about it. It makes no odds what anyone in the press or media says.

Nothing anyone has said has stopped us doing any of this:
moving up from a mid table team, to a top five team, to a top three team winning the FAC, to a Prem title winning team.
signing players
bringing in a new DoF and CEO
increasing our attendances (even FAC early rounds against teams from the division below are sell-outs)
attracting new sponsors
signing a new shirt deal
communicating links with one of the world's biggest sports franchises and setting up a joint MLS team with them
etc.

So, for me, the press/media can say what they like. If it's a load of bollocks i'll ignore it, if it's decent i'll pay attention to it. When i see people getting all hot'n'bothered about what they say it makes me laugh a bit so i'll come on here and take the piss out of them a bit.

Yeah, isn't it just. Astonishing how Pellers' credentials are explicitly and implicitly called into question (obviously, south American trophies don't count) whereas Moyes is practically venerated - as is Jose, of course

I love how Pellers already thinks (correctly) that the media are in the main a bunch of idiot ****s. Loved his reaction when one of them asked the same question that he'd already answered - short shrift was given.

Gonna be an interesting season

It is rather embarrassing that the press deal with the situation like this. I have explained to a lot of none City fans how many City fans feel there is an agenda. United fans will laugh it off but it does certainly exist. How Moyes has been claimed to be the natural successor to baconface and has been given a lot of praise for his handling of the Rooney situation and hiring of coaches like Neville and Giggs etc and then Pellegrini is just thrown into the negative light that has always surrounded the club. Why they need to still bring up Mancini, and even Hughes is ridiculous but I already am a massive admirer of Pellegrini. He is clearly very intelligent and he makes his point clearly and concisely, I knocked the rags out at the group stage with Villareal, I took Malaga to the quarters and Villareal to the semi's which is an incredible performance. I got 96 points, a record then, but not quite enough against Guardiola's Barca side. All of these comments are brilliant, he has so much confidence and faith in his ability and rightly so. Rather than talk the rags up he claims the gap is already levelled and we will beat them.

Moyes has bottled every big game Everton ever played, they never accomplished anything. They had a quality first team that never managed to achieve anything other than a decent league position. Their only experience of Europe was poor, losing against sides they should beat. Whilst he had supposed loyalty to Everton he was clearly looking at taking over from bacon for a considerable amount of time.

Chelsea do not get so much negative press anymore despite constant sackings etc. City are the targeted but I think Pellegrini will see us rise above it. He has impressed most players and indeed the Spanish press with the way he conducts himself. He is not boastful or controversial like Mourinho and is a cool head. I have a lot of faith that he is going to do a great job at City, and he will be given the time to do so despite what the papers say.

But anyone with any sense will see straight through it. People who can't see straight through it or are firmly behind this kind of thing aren't on our side and are probably on another side and won't be changing, so we don't have to worry about them.

Spot on.

Re: Caveman, Yeah of course, I agree with you on that. I just find it laughable how the press position themselves on these things. I wonder if the media will be less shackled at the rags now Moyes is in charge. Not sure who posted but read a Q and A with the press over the handling of affairs and the differences between City and the rags. They talked of bans at the scum if they asked anything remotely provocative. It was a case of come along and ask questions but only those on our agenda.

I do not get annoyed or angry at the agenda, I can make my own opinions and I know the club as well as we all do and know that the long term future of the football club is in safe hands. Furthermore, the work they are doing in the community and regeneration could lead to one of the greatest sporting legacies this country has ever seen. Getting top coaches and local community involved in football at a state of the art facility could see players from our academy be at the forefront of the game and indeed involved in the national setup and that will be hard for the press to spin negatively.

I wonder what will happen should Mourinho or Moyes struggle. Mancini sometimes would bite on the press rumours and constant questions about the club, I think Pellegrini will draw them in with his intelligence and they will struggle to be anything but impressed with him.

I completely agree - although to be fair I don't see it as exclusive to City. There's a general xenophobia when it comes to foreign managers in the PL. Of course Mourinho is the exception but as a general rule new managers in the league who aren't English have to come deal with the sniping and mild hatchet jobs. You shrug your shoulders and you get on with it.

It was a feature of Mancini's management that he'd effectively answer whatever was asked of him rather than himself shutting down certain subjects. You can see already with Pellegrini he's a bit more circumspect in the questions he answers.

Herbert does seem to have a particular problem with City though. I wonder if there's some editorial bitterness because even though he's the N/W reporter for the indy he hasn't had anything approaching an exclusive out of the club.

Again, I think it more goes to the heart of football rivalry. I asked earlier, if you are a journo, would you write anything positive about your hated rivals?

It would be interesting to revisit articles written by the ones we assume support that lot and compare and contrast what they have written about them versus what they have written about us/Liverpool etc.

That could give us some answers and prove some level of bias (as opposed to an agenda) perhaps?

All of the things you list are correct, but if you believe that how our club is portrayed and therefore perceived has no currency, then you fail to appreciate how the modern world we inhabit operates.

Perhaps you would care to contact the club and notify them that the millions that they currently squander on marketing and public relations could be better utilised in other areas.

It is regrettable that you derive entertainment from laughing at other blues, just because they don't like professional journalists, who are very well rewarded for what they do, mocking and sneering at something they care deeply about.

Feel free to take the piss out of me, mind. That is something I would very much relish :-)
