Pellers press conference

Sorry bit of a diversion ,but in the presser in Durban is that Eva Carneiro the ex Chelsea physio sat next to Vinny?

I was thinking the same thing but I don't think it is her (unfortunately!).
Yea,could see a few groin strains this season if it is. Unless she's come to keep Aguero happy! ;-)

The third part of his first answer, at first I thought he said "the funds" and I thought "OMG! What a crazy and refreshing answer that the press is going to twist into a nightmare!" But then I realized he said "the fans".. a great answer but not as refreshingly interesting as if he would've actually said that he was looking forward to spending some serious cash!

I see one simple twat has posted pics of empty seats 5 minutes from the end of a dire 0-0 draw against Liverpool a few years ago and against West Brom 4 days before this year's Cup Final, when City effectively fielded a reserve side, as 'proof' that City fans aren't loyal.

Maybe he should look a bit closer to home. As a few examples last season they had:

Southampton - 16,000 empty seats
Braga - 20,000 empty seats
Cluj - 29,000 empty seats
Newcastle - 43,000 empty seats (see pic)

And of course the classic 30,000/40,000/50,000/60,000 empty seats the season before.

That top picture is fuckin great and would shut up those deluded twats who inaccurately harp on about city's attendance in a second (most annoying is the Carling cup example at an field where no fucka could get in for ko).

Also, why do people on here think they have to justify their argument that the media give city a hard time to pigeonho? Look at me, look at me, I argue the toss for attention - you are never going to get him to agree with you. Ignore.

Watched the South African press conference. Is Vinny a good speaker or what? No 'erm' or pauses despite not preparing. His intelligence is obvious to any listener.

What an outstanding representative for the club.

Is that why when Aguero scored to win us the league, fans of other clubs went bonkers? We've seen the QPR and Sunderland fans' footage, but the day after that I remember Paul Hawksby and Andy Jacobs saying how fans of their clubs were going mental at it, just like they were when they were in the boozer watching us demolish them 6-1. The saying goes that everybody hates United, doesn't it?
I think you're being deliberately obtuse.

Plenty of clubs dislike the rags for a multitude of reasons. Plenty of clubs are bitter about our good fortune with Sheikh Mansour opting for us and not their club.

It is not unreasonable for fans who dislike the rags to cheer the manner and nature of our title win. However, back in the cold reality of City vs Villa (and I use that as my example as it is first hand experience) it is still "you're just a shit club that got lucky with money" - as I was told just today at work.

I'll try and break it this way:

1) Good news story about the rags - panders to the 669 million worldwide
2) Bad news story about City - panders to the 669 million worldwide plus the multitude others that dislike our good luck
3) Bad news story about the rags caused by City trumping them 6-1 or winning the league - makes fans of other teams happy as they see the rags suffer, circulation good as it is City + the rag haters who are the uptake but still they miss the target 669 million worldwide additional punters.
4) Good news story about City - panders to about 10/20 million worldwide currently at best

Fairly straightforward economics in my eyes?

Like I say though, it would be interesting to do some trend analysis across all papers over a 10 year period to see what came out. I've neither the time nor the inclination but I reckon what I've said wouldn't be a million miles out.

Again, of course there will be some journos who are rag fans, but ultimately I think the press is pro-rag not because of that but because the economics associate with the size of their fan base dictate that's what the readers want.

Same reason why we get "Tulisa's Late Night Dash To Boyfriend's Flat" rather than "1000s of Egyptians Massacred in Middle East Unrest" on the front pages.

I'll also apologise once more if my point is not coming across as intended.

No need to apologise, totally understand and agree... Lets also add 'anti city story gets mega hits from the rag brigade plus the blue moon click throughs'

Lol. Do you seriously believe Sky aren't showing it because it's us? There will be a reason why, and no one on here knows what it is. I can promise you now though that it isn't to A) blank us or B) to make us look *****.

You've got to laugh at the sheer paranoia out of some of you at times.

You also have to laugh at you.. sometimes.

Fook!! Have you heard Alan brasil recently...........Davey this Davey that, I swear the fat headed ginger **** is bumming him.

I will apologise now if I've offended anyone.

Neville today "don't let Jose get off to a flier" he sees Jose as the main threat this year.

This after we finished 2nd last year, 1st the season before and 3rd(joint 2nd) if you use the rags summing up of our title winning season. We are written off already as I can see. Moyes is the great British hope and the obvious successor to bacon and the evil empire, Jose is the messiah returned and the man who's going to return past glories... Pellegrini appears insignificant, our title winning squad and new additions are worthy of a couple of headlines but the script has already been agreed, the wanderer returned vs the horrible gollum faced angry jock replacement battling it out and a return of the old status quo........but then again it could all be in my head?

You have sullied the good name of anal sex by associating it with Alan Brazil.....A month in the transfer forum for you, off you go.

Pellegrini says a player may sign tomorrow in the Durban presser...exciting!

Probably Jovetic. Or Negredo.

No rag agenda in the media eh...?

Why are SSN running a story campaigning to name a bus after slur phalix?

Fans opinions just like journalists were that the replacement to Ferguson should be of the top drawer. Moyes has never, ever, ever been seen as that. Moyes has bottled every big game for Everton and won less than Macliesh, Martinez and Laudrup and many Everton fans started to grumble about him and thought about change. Liverpool fans mocked, and fans of big clubs wanted no part of him. Rumours of him going to Germany arose and many said he should prove himself there, BVB and Bayern weren't interested but instead Shalke, a Spurs like club.

If Chelsea, City or Arsenal appointed Moyes it'd be frowned upon as a very risky appointment. Real Madrid and Barca no chance. Bayern and BVB no chance etc etc.. now all of a sudden he's this unheralded gem that United intend to clean up and show off. This management genius cut from the same cloth as Ferguson (must have missed his Aberdeen like achievements with Everton).

The papers, just like Sky are rewriting history and the truth. Moyes is bang average and I am buzzing they appointed him because he is a good and not great manager. They can sugarcoat and spin and it's laughable, fact is United fans will shut themselves and Moyes isn't a major draw and commands little respect on the world stage. I can see this for what it is but the media is doing there utmost to hype this.

The upside of this is the bigger the hype the harder the fall. I believe wholeheartedly Moyes will finish third and potless. The same the season after. And that's when the knives will be sharpened and when the media changes tact. Bookmark this, I've never been so certain.

Absolutely this.

The thing that makes me angry about articles like the one written by herbert (and he is one!) is that they are printed in papers in countries where City are working hard to grow their fan base and awareness. The herbert article appeared in today's Sun in Malaysia. I know people in the know can just ignore shite like this article but if you live in Malaysia and are starting to follow an English team would you really choose a team that is so shoddy as this article attempts to paint City as? All the work done last close season when City came here and raised peoples awareness can, and is, undone by articles such as this.
As the stretford club have proved, it is time to get a grip of the press, herbert should be banned from press conferences, if he wants information about the club he can receive the official press releases and report from them. Allowing people like herbert access to the club sends out the wrong message, that is "you can write derogatory articles about us but it is ok, please carry on!"
Time to put a stop to it!!

This came up repeatedly last year, many (myself included) think our press officers are absolute push overs and just let this shit repeatedly happen. I'm guessing the thinking is Pellegrini will get them on side over time unlike Mancini and perhaps in a post slur era this is possible.

Can't believe how hostile the press conference is for Pellegrini, and the absolute reverse for "Davey Moyes".

Let's win this year, and shut them up.

Totally agree, and its a shame that some (like our resident rag sympathiser(s)) can't see this.
