Penalty Taker

Who should take penalties if Haaland is not on the pitch?

I think yesterday was one of those things. KDB and Kun hit two bad penalties at a very nice height for the goalie. They should have done what Sam Vokes did today or KDB with his free kick vs. Bournemouth and drilled it along the ground. I think they will learn the lesson and this will become just a bad memory. I would be more worried if we hadn't created any chances.

Seems that Kun hasn't learnt any lessons from his previous misses this season and last

Kun is a great player but he never gives out confidence when taking penalties - I don't like anyone who stutters as they run up, it seems they are waiting for the keeper to move rather than just being positive

Sergio misses about 1 in 3 of his pens, not sure why he is suddenly going to learn his lesson from Saturday. Just don't think he's a very reliable penalty taker tbh.

I think Aguero had only missed 2 of his first 25 odd penalties, it's the following 15 that he's got a shit record with.

Aguero scored 19 of his first 22 penalties between August 2011 and March 2016.

In the last 6 months he's only scored 7/12.

Not only does he not miss 1 in 3 - he scores 76% so it's more like he scores 3 out of 4 - but for the first 5 years of his City career, he scored 86% - incredibly reliable.

Perhaps instead of running around looking for a new penalty taker, we should ask ourselves what's changed with Sergio's penalties over the last 6 months and hopefully the club will be doing that to sort out this patch of poor form rather than look for other penalty takers when there are no obvious stand out candidates.

Saturday was also the first time an Aguero penalty miss has cost us points.

I may be wrong but it seems to me that since he put that pen wide of the post (PSG?) he's generally being placing his pens too close to the keeper. He used to be excellent at slotting them in just inside the post.

I remember seeing a great penalty training exercise
All the takers team mates are behind the goal, jumping up and down taking the piss out of the taker and the taker has to walk from the half way line with the ball before taking the kick
The way I see it proffesional footballers will have taken thousands of pens in their lives on the training pitch. They won't all have been part of the actual training routine but I reckon they all do anyway - especially the designated takers. At this stage of his career Aguero will know exactly what he should be doing, he knows where the goal is blindfolded and he can strike the ball as sweetly as anybody in the game. In theory every single one should hit the net but as we know, theory and reality are two different beasts.
It's in his head at the moment, and practising them even more in a situation that in no way lends itself to a match won't help him that much. The only way to get through this is to score the next one, and the way we play I'll bet we have a fair number before the seasons out.

Apologies. I read something that said he missed one in three, obviously it was talking about more recent records and not his whole career.
