Penalty Taker

Who should take penalties if Haaland is not on the pitch?

think reason why gabby & salah took the pens last is that they had in mind it would go to the wire so save the confident ones until last and it worked.

I would but Sergio third in line for pens, he is not the best by a long way. The peruse on gabby sunday and then to take probably the calmest penalty of all.

Zinc is on the list somewhere on the thread before gabby, he took the worse pen of the 5, don't think he will ever be a pen taker unless its a decider.

we certainly don't have a yaya or Balo any longer where you could hang your hat on it.

But a simple pass into the net isn’t enough.

I just think it’s easy to underestimate how much better keepers have become at saving pens over the last 20 years. They’re generally a bit bigger and more agile. And they do a lot more homework on the penalty taker they’re facing. So penalty takers have to take more risk to beat them.

I think a penalty taker with a 70% success rate today is probably striking the ball as well as a penalty taker with an 80% success rate 20 years ago.
Who is talking about a simple pass? Does KDB do simple passing? One pace, one trajectorary? Of course not, none of them do. The two best we have had in recent years passed the ball into the net (Yaya and Mario). They varied the power, direction and trajectory and were masters at leaving their choice until the goalkeeper had committed his move. They still passed the ball into the net though.

Aguero misses too many. Sorry to say enough is enough. Bernardo should take them for me. They are drilled in fast into the corners.
I agree Aguero's penalty taking is just too random. We need someone who bangs in 90%+ and ideally 95%+ Like when Yaya would step up, I was always relaxed thinking "certain to score". Aguero is not that man.

Whether Bernado is the one to take over, I am not sure. Maybe. I would have gone KDB I think.

I'm with you on this
Yes, me too.

Pep needs to find at least 4/5 penalty takers. I would not have the same person taking the pens. If it is the same one always taking the pens, that leaves the opponents keeper a chance of saving the pen by guessing which way it might go. By changing the taker from match to match it would give us the advantage of having the keeper guessing who is going to take the pen, and thus giving us the advantage, especially under the new rules where you are not allowed to follow up should the keeper save it.

That was a rumour, but isn't a new rule. Penalties remain the same
