Penalty Taker

Who should take penalties if Haaland is not on the pitch?

Yaya had a perfect record with pens (although I cannot remember him taking many in ‘big games’). I really worry who can be trusted to score them as it can/has been crucial this set

Like many others here I don’t feel 100% confidence when Sergio takes them especially as he has missed many and often mishits them. Not all our players play every game so there needs to be 2 or 3 that can step up. Gundogan seems best but doesn’t play every game. Sterling has improved finishing a lot but still susceptible to poor shooting.

I think KdB has the best qualities to be 1st choice - good technique striking a ball and always seems very calm.

The only others I would feel confident with are Sane (German) and Gabriel - however penalty-takers usually seem to be older players in most teams.

I think Ederson would be good too as he strikes so fast and accurately but think Pep woujd consider the GK taking pens as disrespectful to opposition and of course, issues about opposition counterattacking and scoring
Ilkay or Kevin for me.

Big Kev he was a class above yesterday and if he stays fit should also be captain

I can't believe a man that is an obvious perfectionist in everything that he does still allows Aguero to take the fucking penalties.

That first effort was pathetic for a striker of his abilities.

An 86% success rate would suggest otherwise.
Sergio will keep taking them imo.

Not really, a scuffed penalty that goes in is still a poor penalty, zero confidence when he steps up to take one now.

The misses seem to becoming more frequent as well.

Just like Tevez though, the actual penalties are poorly struck more often than not.

The first today was inexplicable but the second was nowhere near the corner either.

'Keepers should have no chance at a penalty. It's 12 yards out, leather the cünting thing.

I'm a send the keeper the wrong way kind of guy or stick it right by the post like shearer, he hit them firmly but not leathered.

Kev for me. Feel Gundogan doesn't have the best technique to take them regularly

With VAR in action it is important we find the new Mario or Yaya, you never once thought either of these guys would miss a penalty.

I think it will become a serious point this season. Kun is not efficient enough with penalty kicks. With our squad rotation we need a panel, not just one.

Kev, Gundo, Phil, Gabby

to start with.
