In all fairness most City fans including me were happy with Gündoğan taking the penalty due to his normally a very good conversion rate.

Lloris was actually off his line before the penalty was taken & should have been retaken but got lost in the aftermath.

Why didn't Aguero shoot? He scored the last 4. Whatever let's Make another Problem out of nothing. Everything needs to be discussed i guess.

Gundo's last 9 penalties before today: Literally all straight forward goals.

You can't really argue with Gundogan's conversion rate but his technique is very poor. He doesn't put enough power on them & a good portion of the penalties he has scored for us the keepers have got hands on them & should have stopped them. The one at home against Leicester this season for instance Schmiechel would have been really annoyed with himself for not saving it, he got a full hand to it & pushed it into he's own net.

Gundogan won't shoot when given the chance in general so he was never going to be the answer.

Why do people keep saying KDB? Hasn't he expressed a reticence in the past towards taking them? Plus, the one he's taken for us, he's missed.

hey, I thought so as well, but in the last while on one thread, and i'm not searching for it, iirc there was a quote from KDB about taking pens where he basically said,
"I haven't been asked, if he asks me to take them , I will"

Yes, we tend to think that being awarded a penalty is tantamount to a goal ... asthough 99% of penalties are converted.

But actually many more pens are missed than we imagine ... I think overall about 1 in 5 pens are missed even at the very top level.

PS: scary that Ronaldo has taken nearly 100 penalties in league games alone !
