You really shouldn't be accusing others of dementia when you don't know what you're talking about yourself. Do you not remember the reaction at the game after he handed it in? He was roundly booed by everybody in the ground (and went on to have a cracking game).

Whay did we pay him £300,000 then? We were skint then too. Newcastle paid £5.8M instead of £5.5 so we would pay it him. A transfer request would have given him no claim to the payment. I don't belive the press, money speaks louder.

You're getting two different incidents mixed up. The transfer request had nothing to do with his eventual move to Newcastle. It was when he was negotiating a new contract in Jan 06. He didn't move to Newcastle til June 2007.

It 100% definitely happened; he even talked about it himself in interviews.
