Pep and Colin Bell

Colin would have been a perfect Pep player.Pep would have simply adored him: his attitude on the pitch, his way of playing football. It is right that there is one stand, and one only, named after a player. Just possibly, you could argue a case for one of the others being renamed the Trautmann stand. That’s the lot, in my book.

If Mrs London had been a boy, her name would have been Colin.

According to her Dad.

Her Mum says otherwise.

They might have compromised on Michael, but Francis was definitely out.

My cousin's surname is Bell. He's a mad blue. He conceived their first baby the night we beat United at Wembley. For several months after he kept telling us he was going to call the baby "Colin". Then they had a girl and they haven't had another. Not the ending to the story we were all hoping for but definitely an opportunity missed.

I appreciate this is off topic but didnt want to start a new page, or maybe I should ? I posted a video of the King scoring against Chelsea. I looked at the ball delivered by Alan Oakes. Very little chat about him on the forum. Played more games for City than anyone else. Very much an unsung hero. Do not wish to detract from the King,my total hero, just wondered if some of you older boys think about him ? Have read that he was Glyn Pardoe's cousin, so a distant relation to Phil. Never knew that. Any way, best wishes to all the King fans.

Watching videos of Colin Bell, I came across this one. It includes Franny Lee showing how penalties should be taken. (He had plenty of practice)

That is a great video my friend..boy did we have a great team in those days..I am somewhat sad that Franny is remembered more as an owner than a player..he was amazing for us and selling him to Derby was a mistake.Joe Mercer sums it up nicely, Malcom Allison was never a manager, but a superb coach.

Alan Oakes really was Mr Reliable, a bit like Gareth Barry in his ability always to be in the right place at the right time, to be a major influence on games without you really noticing him. But you noticed the difference if he wasn’t playing - luckily that didn’t happen very often.
