Pep documentary on BBC

The documentary only confirms we are blessed to have Pep as our manager and Txiki as part of our management team , having an ex-player who has experienced at first hand football on the pitch at the highest level has to be an advantage.
Firmly believe we would have won trophies without Pep simply because of the investment , but Pep has reached levels only a genius could replicate , he improves nearly every player who walks through the door and has revolutionised football in this country.
 
I really enjoyed watching that, made me realise how much of a genius Pep Guardiola really is, and how lucky we are to having him managing our club. Had Pep accepted Ferguson's offer of becoming manager of United in 2012 before he retired, well, let's just say he didn't, thank goodness .Things would have been very different, that's for sure. Him joining City is largely due to Pep's fellow compatriots -Txiki Begiristain and Ferran Soriano.

Maybe it was part of our owners masterplan. More than likely.

In the documentary it showed Pep walking past the European Cup after we'd won it. He had a wry smile on his face, was a bit of a 'told you so moment' i think and something that brought a tear to my eye.

Won't always be this way though. But whilst it lasts we must savour these special moments because Pep Guardiola is a football genius who has changed the way the game is played and we're so fortunate he chose to manage us. Let that sink in...

And although it's widely acclaimed Alex Ferguson is the greatest manager(so far) in world football, Pep is only 7 trophies behind Fergie's 45 won.

let's hope Pep wins his next 8 trophies with us, and then some more, with us!

Regarding the show I thought it good, but lacking in any sort of depth as to why he's the best. No nod of the hat to the false nine Foden season, the Stones role last season from both rb and cb. The coaching required to pull those two off alone is off the charts.

It waxed lyrical about all his achievements, but didn't scratch the surface for me. So many tactical topics to delve into.

My only gripe was that the Barca stuff was very in depth and the City part seemed to by scimmed over slightly.

He was manager of Barca for 4 years and City for 7+. I presume the point was that it spent longer on his time as manager of Barca even those he’s been at City longer. It did feel like the Bayern and City years were quickly covered compared to the rest of the documentary (player, Barca B, Barca).

Those Barca origins are the most powerful and poignant part of the story. Young boy comes from the sticks and shows them all. As one witness said, he understood exactly what Cruyff was saying and when Pep played, the team played. A few years later, chosen ahead of Mourinho, he got rid of a pile of stars and replaced them with Barca youth. The team never looked back. He is a football genius.

It felt a bit like two documentaries bolted together.

Not saying I didn’t enjoy watching it but I don’t think it was anything exceptional to be honest. In particular most of the interviews were quite superficial, the City ones were almost like sound bites towards the end.
