Pep documentary on BBC

Just watched it
One thing that stood out as clear as day. All the journalists spoke highly of Pep apart from Winter, all those billions spent etc. Our press/media are shit
Just watched it myself. Yeh it's funny that! Everyone in the documentary came across as totally respectful except our representative from the British press! What a shit country we have become. Anyway, apart from that I thought it was very good and had Mrs Wattle gushing all the way through haha. Can you imagine a documentary like that about Klopp? No me neither haha. Sometimes I think us City fans need reminding how lucky we are, and this doc certainly does that. I can see him staying for much, much longer after watching that. I don't think the gutter press and scummy, jealous fans realise that they just fire him up and are probably a major factor in keeping him here. Long may they continue

Those Barca origins are the most powerful and poignant part of the story. Young boy comes from the sticks and shows them all. As one witness said, he understood exactly what Cruyff was saying and when Pep played, the team played. A few years later, chosen ahead of Mourinho, he got rid of a pile of stars and replaced them with Barca youth. The team never looked back. He is a football genius.

No one is saying the Barca part should have been shorter. Just that the City part was quite short and kinda rushed through and that it would have been nice to have been a bit more detailed. Seems fair.

I think what is often missed is the vast improvement in the England team since Pep arrived on these shores. Now almost every team plays out from the back, the technical skills have increased across the league as others have watched, copied and implemented the same style of play.

All playing catch-up though, I mean how many other managers can win the league with no Strikers, then Pivot to 2 strikers up front, play a defensive line of Centre backs, or move Johnny Stones from Defense to midfield, develop young players who will form the backbone of many English / International teams for years to come and then still have the ability to change again when needed.

Special times, never in my lifetime would I ever have imagined the recognised genius of football managing our team, and the many years that he has.

add the rag implosion over the last 10 years and these are really really special times :-)
