Looking at it you'd assume that was a deliberate attempt at some sort of crap humour. He normally comes across as quite sensible.but that's piss poor from the Chancellor. Don't know who he supports but he's a Brummie so maybe one of those bitter villa types?
Has anyone asked if he can stop over at the Etihad to pick Jack up on his way back to Birmingham?

It's just weird. He's being honoured for his work at City. It'd be like giving Martin Scorsese an award for Goodfellas and then saying "his achievements in directing Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, and even Goodfellas are being recognised." That's the one you're honouring him for ffs. Otherwise why aren't you giving an honorary doctorate to Carlo Ancelotti or Zinedine Zidane?

In recognition of his “extraordinary contribution to the city over nine years on and off the pitch”. Well deserved.

Made him feel like home - but he lives in Salford.

Are those City Suites buildings in Salford?

I never would have thought that. They must be about three steps from the border if they are.
