When pep tries to play defensive football or Conservative he seems stuck, neither here not there which is why it feels like a shadow of our former self like neville said. He often spoke about sticking to his style but he hasnt thats why it feels were stuck.

This squad is capable of challenging for the title but only if we go back to the drawing board and go back to our original style of play.

Considering the drop in standards over the past season or two, i think it's a good point.

Well he's sorted out the defence. Take out that Leicester game and we'd have conceded way less than anyone else. Unfortunately, the midfield and frontline are dead and he's still not doing anything about it.

Pep used to be the best because not only would he win but his teams would always do it in style. There is no style to this team and the brief bits of excitement we do get are purely to do with individual quality and nothing to do with our setup. We're so laboured in possession it's unreal and I'm dreading watching another two and a half years of this if it stays the same.

And, while I'm here, I might as well take the chance to have a moan about the Marseille game. Not a single fucking minute for any academy players and people tried defending that as Pep wanting to keep first team players sharp. Yesterday's performance was anything but. What a wasted opportunity.

Oh, and the subs. I wonder if anyone is willing to scrape the barrel and try and justify his total inactivity and lack of game management. He's quite obviously too scared to try and change things in the second half and, as others have said, it does come across as cowardly. I wonder what happened to the Pep I used to know and love.

He's stuck because what other options does he have in CM and CDM. I think making the unit very difficult to score against is crucial progress

Then he really should be having words with his mates at the top who have spunked hundreds of millions on shite.

Go back two or three seasons and our midfield and attack was comparable to any in Europe. Now it’s not even in the top 4 in the PL.

Compare the City and United teams yesterday. I’d say the only area where we are superior to United is our CB options.

There’s not much to choose between the Keepers. Eddy has a far superior distribution but De Gea is a better shot stopper. The full backs are comparable but we did play a RB out of position.

I’d argue that Fernandes, Pogba and Fred are better options than Rodri, a 34 year old Dinho and KDB. I’d also argue that Rashford, Martial and Greenwood offer a much bigger goal threat than Jesus, Sterling and Mahrez. It’s having a world class player in KDB who makes us appear stronger than we actually are.

That’s just comparing ourself to United. Spurs, Liverpool and Chelsea also have much stronger attacking players than us.

I think deep down Pep knows this and it is why he’s being so pragmatic.

We lack so much pace and urgency. People say Sane leaving wasn't that much of a big deal but I'm not sure. Plus the decline of Bernardo has been telling and then old father time catchup up on Fern..

One of the DMs needs box to box capability

Controversial but I think De Bruyne needs a spell out of the side. He is playing every game like we have 5 minutes left and need a goal. Always playing at such high intensity and looking for that magic ball.

He is the key to our success but at the moment he is forcing things too much. We really miss Silva who would just keep the ball and keep the passes ticking over. Kev just needs to trust others around him, play to feet and run the game. He doesn't need to be bursting forwards at speed everytime he gets the ball and looking to play a slide rule pass.

He clearly feels the need to because others aren't performing to their abikity either, but I feel like our overall play has been a lot better in the CL in games De Bruyne has been rested for.
