Juanma Lillo is credited with pioneering the 4-2-3-1. It has taken time, but slowly Pep has molded the team based on his input. His imprints are all over this team. Since moving to the double pivot, we've conceded 0 goals in 5 games across prem and CL. Have faith in the team. The goals will come, the important thing is that now we're difficult side to score against.Since his new assistant came in our level of play has gone backwards at quite an alarming rate.
We’re about a third of the way into the league season and he doesn’t seem any nearer to getting any fluency into our attacking play.
I hope he can find a spark from somewhere because at the moment it really feels like he and the team are going through the motions.
Look at what Rodri said post-match today -
"The performance was alright. I think we had good chances in the match, sometimes they (United) pushed a little bit, but I don't remember any big chances they had. I thought we had two or three big chances, and we had to score these. That's the main point - you're not going to have 20 chances, you'll have two or three. You have to score these chances, that's our weak point in the last matches. That's where we have to work."
We used to be a "20 chances, 3 goals" team. We can't afford to be that anymore because we're playing without Silva, Aguero and Sane. Right now this team has better defensive players than it has attackers and so the tactics must change to play to those strengths.
