Only needed to make one change to turn that game, well done to Pep
Was just reading it too. The guy is an absolute genius.Don’t know if already posted but if you want to be blown away with real in depth analysis of Pep (with bits from his Barca, Bayern days, but mainly concentrating on the evolution of tactics at City) try this very long read
How Guardiola & 3-2-2-3 (ultimately) solved the defending meta
Guardiola’s image in the football world is complex to describe. While polarizing, everyone seems at least to agree that he is an unique innovator. Funnily enough, he is polarizing exactly because of this mutual agreement of critics and fans. The public discourse about his Barcelona team mainly...spielverlagerung.com
My head hurts... god knows what opposition managers feel
If Sky/bt/bbc punditry did even a 100th of that they’d still have a 1000 times better output on discussing football tactics, rather than ‘he kicked the ball into the space and then ran onto it, great play by United there’Was just reading it too. The guy is an absolute genius.
His successor is going to be serious downgrade one day....... but even then lets make sure we get the next best thing.

Horses for courses I guess. This article was done by actual coaches, not pundits. One of the contributors (and founder of the site) is currently working at Borussia MG as an assistant manager. I doubt that such in-depth analysis has place on a sports channel mostly oriented on a braindead 'wide audience'If Sky/bt/bbc punditry did even a 100th of that they’d still have a 1000 times better output on discussing football tactics, rather than ‘he kicked the ball into the space and then ran onto it, great play by United there’
I'd agree with that, I'm interested in football tactics and approaches and I've to be in the right mood to read spielverlagerung articles, they can be quite info heavy. The average football fan sitting down after work or at the weekend to watch a match would probably switch off straight away or just get annoyed.Horses for courses I guess. Before this season Pep has always favored the W-W shape in our team. Or if you put it in numbers it's 2-3-2-3. This season, for more defensive stability, Pep flipped it into a W-M shape, thus 3-2-2-3. It's such a simple, and elegant solution to his problems, very Pep-esque.Don’t know if already posted but if you want to be blown away with real in depth analysis of Pep (with bits from his Barca, Bayern days, but mainly concentrating on the evolution of tactics at City) try this very long read
