I don't doubt that Pep knows more than me or anyone. However it seems he doesn't actually cares about our Academy kids, presumably because he knows we don't need to develop them since we can buy pretty much any player we like.
18 Senior squad players got starts over 2 games, Aguero got a brief run, Raheem got a goal to boost his confidence, Foden, Torres and Garcia are all "kids" in relative term, not a bad week's work. Including the newer batch of kids like Palmer etc. when fit we have close to 30 players competing for 14 places on a match day, do you understand how hard it is to keep 25 + players match fit and ready to play. Look at his record for bringing through young players, read what players have said about him, ask Messi, Pedro, Thiago, Busquets, Kimmich, Foden, etc. where have they said he doesn't care about young players. Khaldoon has regularly stated the owner's long term ambition is to field a team largely made up of players brought through the club, who did he say was the best coach to begin this process ? .
"we can buy pretty much any player we like" No, where is Haaland, Mbappe, Neymar, Messi,if we could we would, there are budgets to be met to keep the club self sufficient, not to mention PL and European ffp rules, and that's only the beginning of restrictions internal or external to what we can do.

We won 3-0. Smashed it. Carried on building momentum.

I'd bet my mortgage, added to yours, and multiplied by Peps yearly wage that if you asked Palmer if he felt disrespected tonight he'd look at you and say something like "Don't be a bellend. I'm surrounded by the best players in the country, under the best manager in the world, and my career is just getting started. I'm living the dream. Stop complaining on my behalf, I couldn't be happier"

Peps doing a great job.

Thats why the bluemoon massif are turning on him.
That sounds a bit like what Harwood- Bellis, said after signing his new contract.

That's about 4 good posts you've crammed into 1 there. You're screwing yourself out of likes there. ;)

I thought that he had played in that position before.
Whether or which, Stones should not have come on. We need to keep all centre halves available for the United match and the Xmas period.
Fernandinho could have moved back and we could have brought on a midfielder.
Laporte Ake and Stones are either coming back from injuries or regaining form.
A couple of recurrences of injuries or loss of form and we are in big trouble.
"Laporte Ake and Stones are either coming back from injuries or regaining form". They won't get match fit on the bench which is probably the exact reason they played. The squad does very intensive training sessions, that's why they are so good, not much point in playing them against Utd if they run out of steam after 60-70 mins and we have to make enforced substitutions.

I've yet to see anything in Pep's first four year to make me believe that he wants to bring players through from the Academy. All of the players you mentioned above apart from Foden had played a lot of senior football before so that's different. Pep is a great coach and at developing players, he is however crap at actually giving them games and chances to impress. Yes we have a huge squad, but how is Palmer ever gonna have a chance of breaking through then? Because some senior players will always be in need of minutes.

As a coach with a squad you'll always have to prioritize things. Of course team morale and having your top players like KDB, Sterling and Aguero in form will be on top of his prioritize. Integrating young kids with no previous experience of senior football seems to come very low on his list. That won't affect our short term results at all (maybe it even has a positive effect) but long term it will most likely hurt their development. That doesn't mean that Pep is a bad coach nor a poor developer of young footballers, it just mean Pep doesn't prioritize it which I feel is really sad. If he really did care a great deal about Palmer for example he would've given him 10-15 minutes towards the end. He missed out on playing a huge match for the EDS yesterday (where they got eliminated) but he wouldn't give a rats arse about that if he'd got on tonight. It would be a huge boost to his confidence seeing his manager showing belief in him and great for his motivation to see the manager show how much he appreciates the effort he's putting in training and how good he's performing this season.

Of course we can't buy any player we want but I think you understand my point, we don't need to bring anyone through our ranks because it will take a lot of time and it's much more safe to splash 30m on some young already established Spaniard.

I see what you are saying but will have to disagree with your first sentence as I've seen the 4 years differently.
I think if you check it out, that you will see that Foden is not the only raw young player he brought through. He was appointed Head coach of La Masia, with Johann Cruyff's approval, where he brought academy players through to Barcelona B and on to the record breaking senior team he managed. We do need to bring youngsters through our ranks, it is a publically and regularily published part of owner & club policy, listen to any of Khaldoon's interview's, it is a primary "long term" objective. It is not good business to not buy an available young player if the management's consensus is that he or now she is better or potentially better than player's we have already, it is a business after all.
