Do some people actually unironically want Pep to leave? Jfc.
I can't believe so,but speaking only for myself...I want him to stop fucking about and introduce some flexibility to his stubborn approach.

Much of our magic has gone,it needs rediscovering and that ain't happening with the same old sussed out routines and lack of invention.

So he knew it was going to be quite hard to match their athleticism but didn't think of using the bench. Bizarre

Coz not every fucking sub will always works, biggest example Madrid semi final last season. How well that turned out.

Subs always gamble they either work or makes thing even worse.

How did subs affect the semi-final? We lost that game because Walker was injured and was forced off, resulting in Cancelo unfortunately ending up at RB, where he was in prime position to stand about doing nothing while Madrid got that crucial first goal to set them up for the winner.

I see people blaming Pep for Walker subs, not knowing that Walker injured to this day.

Think Pep is being hung out to dry here because he's had to make do with:

Losing:
1. Jesus (trusted player)
2. Sterling (trusted player)
3. Zinchenko (trusted player)
4. Fernandinho (trusted player)
5. Ferran Torrez (semi-trusted player)
6. Cancelo (trusted till insubordination)

Replaced by:
1. Erling (trusted player)
2. Julian (trusted player)
3. Akanji (trusted player)
4. Philips (not trusted)
5. Gomez (not trusted)
6. Palmer (not trusted)

* Rico Lewis (semi-trusted)

So the squad is really thin, especially up front where we lost 4 attacking players and only replaced them with 2 - and those 2 play the same position.

This is a major failure by our scouting team that thought the players would be up to it and they aren't. Losing the pace and control on the wings from Jesus and Sterling and replacing Ferna with Philips is just outright criminal and the scouting department should be fired!

Pep has fixed the Cancelo/ Zinchenko hole with Ake & Rico!

Most worrying is Philips is clearly not trusted so Rodri is having to play so much that he can run out of gas at the tail end of the season and it seems like that now.

We've got a MAJOR OVERHAUL next summer.. not just for midfield we keep talking about but also the players that we failed to adequately replace last year.

For now we're in a fight for the CL and PL and Pep might actually have to give some academy kids a real shot this year - Maybe Borges/ Ndala or Mebude and see who can play our system and give opposing defenses headaches.
Hung out to dry? Not even Klopp would come out with such a whopper.

How the fcuk does anyone else manage?

Not criticising Pep; just your ludicrous sense of perspective.

This is it, unfortunately we have been spoilt and want to keep it up which it can’t be, even United didn’t win everything every year at their peak. I honestly think he’s almost experimenting to see what he needs for next season to blow them away again.

I hear you and have been thinking thats very much a possibility.

He has decided to take what he can from this season, alnost writing it off.....with the intention of preparing for next and beyond.

I genuinely hope that's the case anyway, otherwise we better get used to a few more seasons of relative mediocracy.

Pep with the subs today:

We played better against Nottingham (still played well today), but of course we won, so instead of 100 posts complaining about anything, we will have none (whether is positive or negative things to say).

The criticism against Forest was justified, because although the football was sublime at times it was also toothless.
Today he deserves credit for the clear progressive approach and the fact he got Haaland into the game.

Not vintage football today but as the scoreline showed......it doesnt always have to be,it just needs to be effective at getting that ball in the net.

If you count the number of chances we had against Nottingham, and the number of chances we conceded, we were better against Nottingham (which at the same time is a much better team that Bournemouth), so if we were toothless then, we were even more today (we were not toothless either day ofc). The only difference is that we were effective today. We scored one of 3 Rodri's header, Haaland 2 tap ins, KDB 2 free shoots in the box, or Foden gives the correct pass, and we were 0-4 easily.

Pep is shocking at using substitutions.
When we are leading any sub by him seems to be code for the rest of the team to down tools.
The pace drops , goal threats stop ,opponents sniff a chance for some redemption. The number of his subs is usually directly proportional to the damage he will wreak e,g 2nd half of the derby.

The main difference is the result. We played better last Saturday than this. This week Pep’s a hero, last week Pep out.
