I said i didnt like the team set up before the game , given what an open game it was last time pep allowed thie one to be the same , i like jules a lot but he doesnt suit where he is asked to play at all, bernie should have started , he looked perfectly fit when he came on

Could our current struggles be linked to Pep trying too hard to figure out the best way to accommodate Haaland and his skill set? I think this is the first time in Pep's career that he's had a fantastic goal scorer that is as limited as Erling is in the build up phase of the game. Maybe he's decided that if opponents are going to double team Haaland defensively, he needs a goal scorer like Alvarez in the middle? My personal belief is that Haaland would be most lethal on a team that is counter attacking or quick in transition and that is not who we are. I trust Pep to figure it out, but in the meantime, I expect a lot of frustration for us fans between now and when the solution is found. Just a thought

Alvarez is a square peg in a round hole in that position.

I get it, but it's pointless to get upset about Pep's choices. Nobody is perfect and nobody knows better than Pep what's good for the team. Experiments and mistakes are part of the game. The things Pep learns from them make him better.

Pep wouldn't care what people think about his tactics anyway. As long as he wins things, he's right per definition.

A big issue what seems to have been missed is if Haaland hadn’t had a rare off day in front of goal we win by at least 3 and he’s praised to the hilt for squad management.
A fine line is this football lark.

And if Jackson and Sterling hadn't wasted their chances we could also have lost by 3
One would have been called back for offside. The stats tell the story and City should have won the game by every metric.
Of course there’s sections of our fanbase who would struggle to remember what they had they breakfast so not surprising they’ve forgotten how much fucking credit this man has in the bank and go apeshit the second we don’t win a game.

Reminded me of that Simpsons episode where Homer is trying to suppress his anger and gets big boils on his neck in his post match interview.

He's doing more than fine, just wish he'd put Akanji at right back and stop trying to force Alvarez into the team by playing him wildly out of position.
