It has worked pretty well over his years here, I agree. Treble winners, PL win after win after win after win.
That was then and of course it did. But we weren’t persisting with tired/past their best 30-34 year old players for 90 minutes were we?

Please tell me what you expect to change with the same tired, shot players on the field every game all game?

Oreilly? Just give the lad some minutes. He cant, and that’s not a guess, be any worse than what was out there. Plus it gives a completely knackerd bernado or similar some rest. And you know what, if falls flat on his face then we learned something. We are learning nothing new just doing the same.

If O'Reilly and McAtee aren't good enough to get any minutes then they shouldn't be in the squad and Pep shouldn't have been happy with the squad going into the season. Particularly when we carry a small squad, with some older, injury prone players (KDB, Stones, Walker, Ake), others who are overplayed (Bernardo & Rodri), and some who are overplayed & injured going into the start of the season (Rodri).

It was genuinely baffling. Villa definitely changed the way they played in the 2nd half to shore things up, but there was no reaction from us.

Just the same old madness, expecting a different result.
No we changed. Lewis went to inverted left back which killed the left side. Grealish was getting loads of the ball first Half because of Gvardiol.

The inverted fb has to stop. It just kills which ever side it’s on and adds nothing to the midfield or build up.

Is it possible that the PL has evolved to a much faster, taller, bigger league & there is no more room for soft or old players anymore??

I mean we miss Rodri and Rodri is 6'3" FFS. Is that the blueprint for the center of midfield going forward??

Rogers shitting all over us today for example.
You have no evidence to back up the idea he would be a success with us or help us in anyway , same with the other kids . It is easy to wreck their confidence at their age , they are gone and i am pleased some are doing well but just not here . You can keep battering pep with it every minute but it is pointless

The difference between your mindset and mine is that I absolutely think it could be significantly worse. Do you really think Pep is happy with how our players perform? The reason they keep getting minutes instead of youngsters is obviously because he sees them in training every day and think the kids are even worse. This is the highest level of football in the world and you are making the assumption that kids cant do any worse if they are just given the chance. I think you seriously underestimate the enormous difference in level between youth and PL football. Of course it can get worse. We could lose with 6-1 today instead of 2-1.

Pep is clearly playing with fire now. We lost Ruben because he was called too early to the squad.
How bad are our academy players.

No I don't, because how would I know they would improve us when they are getting no chances at all, all I'm saying is it's worth giving them a chance with the current situation, and how do you know it will wreck their confidence ? do you have evidence that their confidence will be shot if they play ? what if keeping them on the bench and playing injured, tired and finished players over them is the thing that wrecks their confidence ? no I don't think it's pointless at all to bring this point up.

Thats a fair reply. It could very well be the case but Pep does have a reputation for ‘trusting’ his true and tried players to a fault.
Gundogan has been an incredible player for us but his return has been an abject disaster. Not blaming him, age has caught up with him as it does us all.

But Pep still trusts him regardless of performance, which is baffling.

If pep doesn’t trust the younger players for even 10 minutes then squad panning has been even more shambolic than we thought. What is the point of them?

Once again lad, we lost 2-1 to spurs with some of the kids playing and 4-0 with the senior players, so we actually have proof that it was significantly worse when the kids didn't play.

And I don't give a fuck about damage limitation if this is the type of performance we see week in week out.-

Different competition though and different circumstances in any case.

The point is that Pep regularly sees these players in training and as such he has a better idea of how good our players are than we do. If he thought any of the kids were good enough to play then they’d be in the team, Lewis being a prime example

They doubled up on Grealish so he couldn’t get at Cash, they should’ve brought Doku on he’s quicker than Grealish and would’ve caused them more problems
Yeah but you said Doku was a lazy fucker in a post on Monday, but today Pep should of brought him on, fans like you need to make there minds up.

Yeah that's what Vester and Kaz just don't get, it's not just about giving youth a chance, it's about protecting the senior players and giving them enough time to recover from injuries so they can be available in the long term, what Pep is doing is fucking us in the short term and the long term, he will never have his players back if he keeps rushing them back from injuries.

Yeah and I've already said before that seeing them in training doesn't tell the whole story, you have to give them consistent minutes to see if they are good enough, he didn't see anything in Palmer, Lavia, Rogers in training either.
