Apart from Peps first season, especially towards the end of it, we have gone into games knowing that if we perform, we have the better players and we will win…..I think for the first time in a long while we have inferior players, especially in the middle and at full back.

Those positions are vital to the way Peps team play and apart from playing one of the youngsters (which I wish he would) his hands are tied and we are now not now able to go head to head with the better teams, no matter what combination he puts out.

He's having a fucking shocker this season. The type of football we play, the set pieces, the back line and the suicidal highness of it, bringing people back early from injuries, gundo, the subs. He's earned a year off, and he's taking it.

In hindsight, it might have been better all round if he’d taken a well deserved sabbatical. That said, where do you find an interim of the right calibre?

Pep absolutely loves the Embargoed section lol, said absolutely nothing in the regular part. And then went on and on. This is a pattern I noticed as well watching the press conferences over the years.

Edit: For those interested.

We had Delph and Zinch at LB in seasons with 100 and 98 pts. But most players were still in their prime and hadn't won 4 in a row. Now some of the players are over the hill and also tired from 4 intense seasons, which has led to many injuries across the board.

The team is heavily disbalanced without Rodri, as we are sorely lacking in physicality, can't control games and have to compensate with more efforts which results in injuries.

Was a very interesting press conference. Was very surprised to learn we are running as much as ever (if not more). The problem is we aren’t keeping the ball to nullify their threats etc.

never really thought of it like that but it makes perfect sense. We need better technical players and less of the doku, nunes, kovacic dribbler types in pep’s eyes

It's very logical too, as a team that doesn't control the game and concedes has to run more to compensate for it. As a result, we get more injuries too. It's not that the players don't run, but that we can't hold on the ball long enough. The control was gone with Rodri.

Without a lynchpin sitting in the milddle, the possesion play we have been excellent at over the years has crumbled, we could spend 10 minutes just dinking it about the back and middle easing out an opening, now the centre circle is a free for all and we are missing or losing the second balls

We are running more and that’s why we are losing because we are fucked, when we retained the ball other teams did the running and we wore them down, that is now happening to us.

I'll be honest this blowing smoke up McAtees arse while not giving him a proper chance as others have been off form he should have been in for (gundo/berny) is a bit disengenuous from Pep.

Love the guy but his loyalty to the old guard should have ended after the 5th defeat, I really hope all the new signings start today and we don't try to trust players half fit

We are turning over the ball alot more this season. Alot more misplaced passes and we aren't intercepting turnovers early enough, so our players end up running up and down the pitch alot.

Makes me think the recruitment hasn’t been aligned with pep’s tactics. Haaland, nunes, kovacic, doku, savinho are all good dribblers and would thrive in a counter attacking system or in transitions.

Very strange

That’s the key issue - we aren’t intercepting and winning the ball back early enough, which means we’re chasing it around for five minutes, where we previously we wouldn’t have had to.

We may be running a lot this season, but that’s a function of our lack of physicality and pace, especially in midfield, rather than a sign that we don’t lack physicality. Bernado is a key example of this. Runs around a lot, but largely forlornly and often without putting an actual challenge in. Whereas short bursts from a quicker player would offer more effective pressure on the opposition.

I do hope Guardiola isn’t kidding himself with these running stats, and his suggestion that we only need more control of the ball, rather than more pace in the team. The game has moved on a lot in the past couple of seasons, as highlighted by the progress made by teams like Bournemouth, and unless we adapt we’ll continue to struggle.

I know I sound a bit boring sorry but this is why a fit John Stones is the player thats missed.

Lots of fans yelling for him to be sold but no one controls shit with the ball better. And Pep knows this. He know thats is what is needed. It’s also why his fitness is the one thing he publicly gets angry with.

There is no replacement. There isn’t. So fact is even if he plays 25 games a season he stays whilst Pep does.

I actually came here to say I hope Pep is okay he seems a bit stressed. I want him to be happy.

I think the football we play has now moved on and we need to go back to the centurion season where we would terrorise down the flanks and move the ball more direct which with Omar will happen . Got to play to haalands strengths . As for pep well he is in unknown territory where he. Is needs to change his style of play of risk being left behind and drifting into the sunset like all the other greats .

It makes no sense that days ago he mentioned that football is heading into a different play style . and now we need more technical players so we don’t run too much? Maybe Pep needs to go with the times. Something mourinho refused to do. Let alone doubt that the players we got were all bought without Pep‘s input. He isn’t perfect.
It shows again the „ I won’t use subs“ „ I will use my talents only when I absolutely HAVE RO“ mentality. Same with the tactics it doesn’t matter how often we lose he won’t change it.
We are losing the ball because our CM is horrible and we need 2 new players there no matter how good Rodri.
Each their own.
