Bobb is unproven as a midfielder. You are also assuming that Phil could operate as a central attacking midfielder. Maybe he can but not really shown it this season where to all intents and purposes he is playing as an additional attacker and shows little appetite for off the ball work or laying on chances for others. Grealish may well be on his way out and you are basing your proposal on a player that is clearly not trusted enough. Bernie? Does he have another season in him? I'm not sure. That midfield lacks the physicality strength and pace that exists elsewhere in the PL. I honestly think its a bigger rebuild.
And that's just the starting eleven, not the bench.

We'll presumably allow de Bruyne and Gundogan to leave and have the final seasons from Bernardo and Stones, but the midfield heirs have to come in this summer, at least two, so that the transition is seamless in 26-27.

He deserves next season but we can't keep defending like this.or making shit subs.

If only we had bought some new players in the January window.
We knew for months that we had needs and we had so many easier games in January where we could have had players in and prepared for the February slog, yet we left it until the very end.

We need to get the new lads playing now, a huge chunk of the season is over, if the old guard were gonna improve it wouid have happened by now. It takes time so we may as well start now, we will only know if the new guys are good enough with games. Wait too long and next season becomes a write off.

huge midfield issues, huge issues in defence and generally slow attacks. also GK problems. so much more wrong than just Rodri injury which is huge on its own. but the rot really set in in most departments.

lot of things to fix. Pep knows his tactics need too change a bit. lot of new players will need long time to bed in. I can see next season be like 2016-2017. mixture of old guard, new guard, still finding our way.

wee absolutely have to go back to pressing well, have sick workrate off the ball in the level of Fernandinho, and pressing from Jesus, Sterling etc and speed in our passing rather than CBs passing between each other vs two lines of 5. speed in transition to get the best out of Doku, Savinho, Marmoush, Haaland...

play lot closer in style what we had in 17-18, 18-19 than what we had in 22-23, 23-24.

football is heading that way now most successful clubs will the ones with best stamina and speed and sick workrate in next 2-3-4 years.

I’m not saying it would be perfect by any stretch but light years ahead of this season’s and if you think of all our injuries and stupid points we’ve dropped we’re still not a million miles off it. Agree about Foden but you asked for options. All better than what we currently have for me. Bobb is unproven but i think he could be very special. This next few months could be very good as part of the rebuild process.

Saying that a midfield including Rodri and Nico would lack physicality is bonkers. Remember how we were doomed to fail with Rodri and Gundo in the middle. That's the same school of thought.

Completely lost his way this season.

Subs awful.
Tactics exposed.
Not playing the new players and youth.

Watching players make mistakes after mistakes and continuing to pick them.

Watching the midfield get overrun and adding Gundo and kova.

Playing Lewis again and again when his level is not good enough.

He will always be the goat and I would love for him to stay beyond the next contract but he need to find that spark again.

He is accepting mediocre poor performances and that includes his own.

Time to step up and sort it out. Ruthless pep is needed.

Real were creating many chances in the first half as well, the protection from midfield wasn't sufficient. Not sure the formation was brilliant. We'd have been better off with Kova instead of KDB. Kevin worked hard, but they could easily play through our press and then had acres of space to exploit.
Don’t agree mate. It was always going to be a bit ropey for the first 20 mins with a new formation v Madrid, but that 20-40 mins period was superb and defo something for us to use going forward. The injury to Akanji and substitution of Ake killed it

Currently our high pressing isn't good enough. If we don't have the players to do it efficiently, does it make sense to insist on it? Also, the players get too tired and can't finish games properly.

Due to the inefficiency of our press, we are all over the place defensively and concede too many chances and shots.

Perhaps we should have tried a different approach vs the best teams, making the midfield highly congested and relying more on counters. Yes, it's not our style, but we shouldn't try to play like the stronger team in the current circumstances. We pretended to be the better team vs Arsenal and Real and lost. Maybe we should be more pragmatic vs Liverpool.

hate it that this season we cannot make advantage of opponents having injury issues.

Arsenal missing Saka their best attacker. what happens? they score 5 past us.
Real missing Alaba, Rudiger, Militao, Carvajal and have a makeshift defence. what happens? we score one action goal and one pen and one chance from a corner header and thats all the chances we have.
apart from the pen, did we even put pressure on their defence in all 2nd half?

We need to build our next team to be more suited to Haaland.

Don't ask me how, I'm sure Pep will know better.

Silva and a few other of our midfielders have a habit of holding on to the ball too long instead of releasing him. If we can get more legs in midfield and better link up play from the wingers he can surpass the goal tally from his first season I'm sure.

Don’t think that would happen since it might sacrifice some of our beloved possession we seem to have done fuck all with this season. We used to be able to defend with possession and take the sting out of games but now it’s passing for the sake of passing

I heard Pep talking last week about modern football and the likes of Liverpool, Bournemouth and Brighton who have high energy runners in midfield and thought to myself that he might change.
