Pep Guardiola - 2024/25

I didnt say we should move on from him.

But he has definitely, even from his own words, made more mistakes this season in not finding the solution to some problems.

His best days are behind him, only because his best was so far above everybody else, 100 pts, treble etc.

He was THE best manager.

He is still ONE of the best managers currently.

But he is not THE best currently.
But you could've said that when he was at Bayern in reference to his Barca treble

Or during 2020 in reference to the Centurions and Fourmidables

I wouldnt.

Just because he didnt win a treble at Bayern, doesnt mean he was better at Barca for winning a treble.

That is lazy results based analysis.

Take for example not playing Rodri in champions league final. Thats a mistake.
In a season when he made virtually all the right decisions, that was a mistake.

I need more than 2 hands to count all the mistakes Pep has made this season, with the personnel he had.

Football is a results based game. Your fingers counting mistakes just aren't as tangible.

The game was played in that small space because that's how we set up to counter the fact that we can't run.

When the games are stretched we're torn apart every time we lose the ball.

Not sure about your 'gotcha' claim here.
The game was played in a small space because that's what Pep wants, it's his instructions to slow the game right down to a snails pace offering almost no threat and allowing even the worse side in premier league history until today to look comfortable and solid. It's peps belief we run too much, it's players following peps instructions that mean if you look at an aerial shot of us in sustained possession at any one point, probably 9 or 10 players are static and its because of peps tactics that regardless of who is on the pitch we continue to struggle to create chances.

We have nothing to discuss then.

If all you do to analyze the team is see if a win, draw or loss happens, then you have nothing of value to say to me.
What point are you actually trying to make here?

You're talking about random mistakes and I'm pointing out that he can't make that many otherwise he wouldn't win the league 75% of the time.

Results are a culmination of everything, including mistakes, and clearly he makes far fewer of them than any other manager.

Ive made my point very clearly, read carefully if you cant figure it out.

Pep has been worse this season than past.

Ive made that very clear, suggesting otherwise (which you did) is wrong.

Irrelevant? Lol.
Ah, incapable of backing up your own point I see.

Come back when you can find me opta' %'s for the likelihood of a city to win or just for Southampton to concede a goal today.... I assume both would have been pretty high?

Which proves that opta percentages are irrelevant and mean fuck all in the grand scheme of things.

You asked me to give you a %

I gave you a fucking %

Most teams are going high energy high risk. I think this game style will suit Haaland. As it draws other teams to go on the attack also.

We should be confident of out scoring teams.

It would also help the atmosphere.

Come on Pep. Let’s just care about out scoring teams rather then passing backwards and sideways.

I haven't said he hasn't been worse this season, I've said he isn't past his best.

Switch Gundogan with Nico O.

Then switch Gundogan with Doku.

Then its perfect.
Dont want Doku starting. He is best when he comes in against q tired d
Defense. And our overall chemistry is better without Doku.

Doku himself is great when he plays, but everyone else is stationary and simply try to just get it to Doku to do something. G

I'd rather start off with Gundo, O'Reilly' and everyone in well known positions where they are moving and making decisions at top speed.

When O'Reilly moves to the middle he is more tentative. I'd rather save that for when we need Doku

Yep a front 3 of
Savinho Erling Marmoush
With Rodri holding and couple of new midfielders providing the bullets if Phil and González can't.

Thats simply true by definition then if you already agree he has been worse this season.

Maybe next season he makes less mistakes, I really hope so, but he will never be at his mercurial best as he was in the past.

Im okay with that. His best is past him.

Whats left is still a really really top manager, who makes mistakes like the rest.

If you read back, no I didnt - I asked for your opinion on whether we'd finish top 3 or even top 5, you came back with an opta % for some reason instead of actually putting your neck out in saying if we will or not?

Therefore I asked for the 'opta %'s' for the game today (which you didn't give) to prove that they are irrelevant and in no way a good indicator of what is actually going to happen in the future.
