Pep Guardiola - 2024/25

I don't think the match day support is reflective of this forum tbh. I've not encountered a single supporter in real life who thinks Pep is finished or thinks that City are on some mad downward spiral. It just takes a little bit of perspective to realise this season is an outlier and that the team will be infinitely improved next season with Rodri back and a handful of reinforcements.
Sorry but this rebuild and problems are deeper than a few players and Rodri.

Pep and this whole club needed a long summer break as far away from football as possible, and the reality is the opposite with the club WC.

This club needs a serious rebuild and if we fail with CL qualification it could well take 2-3 seasons to achieve.

Scrolling down this forum I've learned that Pep isn't the only one. Haaland is shit. Dias is shit. Foden is shit. Doku is shit. Savinho is shit. The board are shit. The owners are shit. We're basically finished as a football club. It's remarkable we've not been relegated this season.
Not only that, but every player we want to buy isn't good enough, or doesn't want us.
Are we really that feeble and fickle?

Lillo does nothing and the GK should go, no keeper has gotten better in this era, is my fav so far i think.

I'm looking forward to our inevitable relegation next season. Maybe a year in the championship will help the owners reset and understand they've been asleep at the wheel whilst Guardiola has been breaking records.

I've not been on as much recently as it's constant negativity. Not saying they're wrong in what they say but it does get tiresome!

Maybe not 'finished' but almost certainly on the downhill slope.

He's overseen the rise and decline of the best team ever to grace the PL, one of the greatest teams ever.

All good things come to an end. The current squad is a shadow of those from 17/18 to 22/23, even though many of the names are the same... It's a tired, ageing squad, supplemented by average/inadequate youth and new signings.... Playing a tired and boring system under a tired coach who has seemingly run out if ideas.

Pep still has a lot to offer football, but he's not doing it at City any more. He's older, tired, and has stayed for two seasons too long.

The club needs a fresh start. Unfortunately, poor succession planning has left a tired, depleted squad for any new coach to inherit. It all sounds very much like Ferguson at the swamp to me.

We should be in a far stronger, better position to go forward than we are. That's 100% down to Pep and the owners.

The owners have had it very easy for 10 years or so... Its time for action; time to see just how good they really are.

You might have forgotten, but you wrote in the early part of the 22/23 season that the squad was our weakest under Pep. I told you that's our strongest squad. And then we won the Treble...

You have a history of being too critical. Relax a bit, you might be wrong again.

Hahahahahahahaha.

I appreciate that sarcasm and exaggeration are your forte BS, and I admire your positivity for all things City.

We all have our opinions. The thing we have in common us that when our 'inevitable' relegation does happen, we'll still have City at heart whoever owns the club or is coaching the team.

Up the Blues!

Still think he needs a plan B in games. Or sometimes start with Plan B instead of hammering plan A all the time.

I can stomach losses. Shit happens.

But largely this season we have been absolute dross to watch. We have played well in about 15 games.

Everyone could see against the saints we were sleepwalking into a draw after 20 minutes.

If the layman like me and you can see it, why does the world's best not see it?

Be ruthless. Haul someone off after 30 minutes if they are having a stinker. Make 3 subs at half time. Freshen things up. Tweak the tactics. Just do something to break the opposition down.

This summer window is his most important of his career. He can't rely on his trusted old guard next season as they won't be here.

I'm not though. I stand by my view on the 22/23 squad. It's been an ageing squad running on fumes for the last two seasons.

The 22/23 treble masked growing problems. Pep should have left after winning the CL, along with a number of senior players.

All good things come to an end. Our current squad is weak and tactically painful to watch.

The City Group's over reliance on, and apparently blind belief in, Pep's ability to keep going is to blame.

The players we had start Saturday should have beaten Saints...however it was blindingly obvious after 10 minutes we had no pace in the side so it was easy for them to get 10 men behind the ball ! So fucking change it, MaCatee and Rico were passengers.

It’s not like there’s another manager on his level waiting outside the Etihad with his brand new briefcase and pencils sharpened and ready, waiting for a job offer.
