yes, if you only look at the numbers, but if you look inside, you will see that there is a significant number of players who are either burned out or almost unusable for various reasons (thousands of minutes played, old age and injuries), you cannot count on them if you think you are fighting for the biggest trophies (and I guess we do)
I assume thats what he saying, he doesn't want to be in this position when the squad is fit. Those who are unreliable, untrusted etc will have to go to keep the numbers down to his preferred, which I've no problem with, but cant keep bitching they are overplayed then.

20-22 guys he trusts to put on in any situation is fine.

He wants to leave the club on a low so when the next manager comes it doesn’t end up like Slot who then gets a title which would give people the reasoning „ maybe pep wasn’t that good „
He wants to leave imo. Starting to create trouble

I am finding peps behaviour odd this season & I just think he wants out but he will never walk. He’s exhausted just like the players or more to 115 than we are aware of.

I just can’t get my head around his comments on squad size. We are carrying to much dead weight I will agree with that but if he wants a smaller squad we need much better players in which I don’t see happening. Seems like he’s playing a game where he parts ways with the club.

Something not right this season behind the scenes. Walker goes, tikki supposed to be going but then stays. Sign new players but don’t play them & Everybody is playing way below standard

When Big Sam moves into the hotseat after our demotion to League 2 he'll have plenty of time to reflect.

I however will be sitting pretty with a glass of pimms and sporting my old Chelsea shirt wearing my "Couldn't give a fuck" face :)

Some of the post in last few pages is showing that some fans doesn't know what they talking about.

If you have already experiences in leading and managing a group of people (not necessary have to be in football to know that feels), then the ideas of Pep wanting to have small squads is not really surprising.

Some people will pointed about insane schedules, that's not Pep fault FFS. The blame should be put on the football federations and governing bodies for being too greedy wanting to add more match in calendar year regardless the wellbeing and health of the players.

No, it’s not his fault, but it is reality for modern day football managers. A small squad will likely lead to more serious injuries and occasions when Jahmai Simpson-Pusey is the lynchpin of our defence. Either Pep can manage within those constraints or he can’t. Contradictory statements and deeds aren’t helping him or us

The Simpson pussy days already feel like a millions years ago, what a long, ageing season this has been

Fast becoming my favourite poster, you sure do have an outstanding strike rate for posting pure shite, it's every post, I doff my cap to you sir

You forgot Echeverri, I alsk would move Lewis to midfield.

Its 28 players, Pep has never had that many before, and I agree its too much.

I think 9 defenders is fine. Bring in 2 fullbacks, and ship out 2 centrebacks.

It becomes 16 players for 6 midfield/forward spots. Thats too much. And with 2 (Reijnnders and MGW) coming in and 4 going (Kevin, Grealish, McAtee for sure, Gundogan maybe), I think it becomes more acceptable to Pep.

Anyone think it may go the way of cricket where different competitions/formats have different squads and managers to not exhaust managers like pep ?

Players can be rotated and get a day off. Managers do not. And it’s a stressful job.

Good point. Unfortunately, football managers tend not to want to share the glory. I certainly can't imagine Pep Guardiola ever allowing someone else to have control of his players.
