Pep Guardiola - 2024/25

The point is that Pep regularly sees these players in training and as such he has a better idea of how good our players are than we do. If he thought any of the kids were good enough to play then they’d be in the team, Lewis being a prime example
If a player is in the panel, then theyshould be good enough to play in an " emergency " situation.
Allison was out for Liverpool and they brought on Kelleher and when they were stuck at right back Bradley came in. Curtis Jones and Elliott get a lot of game time and I don't think they are particularly good.
It doesn't have to be wholesale changes but we need to beef up the squad with players capable of filling in and filling in with players that can play in that position as their preferred choice.
Couto and Kabore were both with us just prior to the start of the season.Either could fill in when Walker is out, not taking Stones, Lewis or Akanji out of their usual position.

Back the boss he needs our support (and he's earned it)
He gets my supprt to carry on based on what he has done for us and I think he is getting great support from the fans at the game given how bad we have been.

However, on a forum where opinions don’t get passed to the players or manager, my view at the moment is that he needs to do better.

His tactics (suicidal high line) and in game management today were woeful. I’m seeing someone who looks confused, frustrated and not sure what to do. He isn’t used to losing and doesn’t seem to know what to do about it.

When Cash was finally booked, Doku should have been on. Grealish could have stayed on and Gundogan taken off. That was a clear half time change for me. I just don’t understand why Doku wasn’t introduced until the 82nd min and De Bruyne wasn’t brought on at all.

The keeper choices have been unusual and Ortega should never have been dropped in the first place for me. He should have been given 10 games minimum before even considering bringing Ederson back.

Hopefully he can turn it around but at the moment I have never seen us as bad as this consistently.

I do think something is rotten in the dressing room. do they 100% still want to play for Pep?

not one player is in form. even Soton, Leicester has 1-2 players who are above the rest. who is best performer this season? Haaland maybe due to he had a great August scoring 8 goals vs the mighty Ipswich, WHU, Brentford.
since than he had more poor games than decent ones. hardly any great ones.

Txiki should have never been as comfortable on recruitment as he was. to sell a very hard worker Alvarez and replace him with Mubama from WHU. wow.
but this was just the icing on the cake. Rodri cryingo out for a rotational option for him and Txiki got us Phillips and Nunes for 100m+.

there is a price to pay for these blunders, and now we are paying the price.

the forward planning of the squad building with holding onto KDB, Walker etc too long even bringing back a past it Gundogan.
I guess next summer we can sign Mahrez and Sterling. they wont be worse than Grealish, if anything they might score some which will be an improvement on Doku, Grealish etc.

Having had a bit of time to decompress, I'm quite excited to see how Pep turns things around.

I'll be here until my dying breath so I've got time to see us come back. A few transfer windows, some time for reflection and I think we will see Pep determined to fight back in the face of adversity.

The underlying issues is stopping teams counterattacking and scoring easy goals against us. These issues never seem to go away even when we are fully in form. What we have to accept is that it won't be sorted until he leaves.

Can only register max 3 new players in the CL squad mid season. Personally I’d be very surprised if we signed more than 1 player. 2 out in January? Doubt it mate
We ain't going to be in the champions league after January so we should be OK.
I don't even think we'll be in the placings for the play offs at this rate.

no way he enjoys our general play. slow, boring, tedious recycling of the ball that gets us no further forward ever but losing the ball and we face a counter we are struggling to defend.

it became much worse since our treble season.

the level is dropped a lot, our speed is snail pace, our attacks has no danger to them. wingers even deeper than before, these days they hardly try to break into the box anymore. when they do there is never much on the end of it.
Haaland can go 2-3 games without a shot.

I cant believe how we went from Sane/sterling type of winger system to this type of football on the wings we have today.
Pep had Ribery/Robben winger duo at Bayern scoring, assisting every game and feeding chances to Lewandowski and Muller who were scoring shit load of these.
here this season we will celebrate Grealish if he scores his first goal in March this season, about 18 months after his last one.

evenn the level dropped a lot since we had Grealish/Mahrez in the treble season and the year before.
we lost the tie vs Real in 21/22 in CL semis but at the home game we could have been winning by 5 goals with the chances we created through Foden, Mahrez and mostly with speed.

what we now have is slow passing between CBs, out to the winger bck to his goal, passing it back to fullback or CB.
then after the game Pep says how great first half we had, how well we played etc. while losing 6 of last 9 league games and winnin only one.

As a fan that’s 50 in a couple of months, I too am excited to see how Pep and the club respond and rebuild for the next cycle.

That being said, I don’t think we should merely be waiting until the transfer windows.

Pep and the coaching staff get paid very well to coach and develop. Yes, we’ve had injuries. Yes we’ve achieved what’s never been achieved before. However I cannot understand the sheer stubbornness not to play some of the younger players who would bring far more urgency than the old players that he continues to play (currently).

We’ve also purchased quite a few expensive players over the last 3 years that really haven’t been any better (and in quite a few cases significantly worse) than talent we have sold from our academy for less. Palmer > Doku & Savio, Lavia > Phillips & Kova, Heck I’d even rather Tommy Doyle than those two (spent approx 70m vs 4m in sale), not to mention over 50M spent on Nunes. You then look at Rogers who tore us a new one yesterday.
