Pep Guardiola - 2025/26

No. It’s true. Do you remember last season under Pellegrini? Guardiola is working miracles in this club. Every year top4. And the recruitment since 2023 is dogshit.
Sold Alvarez without ANY replacement.
Sign 34-year old Gundogan who was finished at the top level. Just because of sentiments, to help Barca register Olmo.
Did nothing to find Rodri’s back-up, so they move after his ACL.

There is complacency and arrogance. And informing journalists of how they are „relaxed”.

Thanks to the summer of 2023 and 2024 we are where we are right now. Still in the ass.

Joins today, posts bollocks for a couple of hours.
No Doubt never stepped foot in Manchester, never mind the Etihad.
Yeah, you’ll fit in well with the rest of the not rights.

But this is pure truth and people have eyes. Txiki said the summer of 2023 was horrible. This board has made a lot of weird, bizarre ans strange decisions in the last 2 years. What did they do to improve the team after winning the treble? City is weaker and weaker and this is an obvious fact. Did you find another goalscorer than Haaland for this team?

For me the problem is with recruitment.

Pep is tasked with making a silk purse out of a sows ear.

The squad is not good enough.
We were always likely going to struggle to replace the likes of Aguero, Kompany, Walker, KDB, Fernandinho, Merlin etc. But Rodri replaced Fern and Haaland isn't a bad replacement for Sergio. Doku has turned into a very good player, Nico Gonzalez could well develop further, Nunes is doing a good job at right back and Nico O is doing fine.

For me, the problem is with the individual drop-offs like Foden, Bernardo, Dias, Gvardiol, Marmoush, Ake and Lewis. We know these are all top-class players because we've seen the evidence on the pitch. And that means there's a collective drop-off.

What worries me more is the drop-off in desire and effort. A few seasons ago we'd have laid siege to Leverkusen's goal in the last 20 minutes but we played like we were the ones who were 2-0 up.

Pep has won with the most talent period. That's by no means a criticism, just a fact and it takes nothing away from his successes throughout his career. The recruitment since the treble has certainly dropped off a bit, but so has Pep's overall performance as manager. Pep has been many things in his highly successful career but I don't see where a miracle worker would be among those.

Lewis was never good IMO. He is still in 2022. Small, little kid. We know some people are here just because of homegrown quota. To be honest, the English/homegrown core at City is very weak. We used to have Sterling, Walker, Grealish who were the core of Southgate’s team in 2021. Right now, City’s players are disregarded by Tuchel.

My problem with City is more pragmatic: overall lack of pace, physicality, awful OOP and non existing pressing with players like Bobb, Savinho etc.

The lesser technical midgets in this team, the better.

Exactly

People think Kompany loves City so so so much so he will join to work under Soriano and weak recrutiment team under Viana. He is loving life in Bayern, zero reason to be here.

This could have only been written someone who is not a blue. Eventually, he will want to actually challenge himself away from a 1 team league and I hope that he chooses to do so at City. Until then, it is what it is.

Are you on here to make jokes, this is a serious thread, maybe the Off Topic thread is the place for you.
Well, Maresca and that shit Chelsea who cost 2 billion was 2 points below City last season, right now is one point above City. Maresca won Conference League and CWC in style. I would consider him alongside Kompany, without a doubt. De Zerbi impress me to fight with PSG that have 5 times bigger budget than OM. Both are very good managers.

We will see. For me, Pep has 100 harder and more stressful job than him.

Plus my point is: Would you work at Bayern right now, where everything works more or less ok or still half arsed City with a lot or problems, especially in terms of recruitment? The board has to improve if City wants to hire the best managers. We are not as attractive like 2-3 years ago. This is not my fault Arsenal has better team than City and Liverpool can do way more on the market. When did we sign last world class player? In 2022. Meanwhile Bayern has world class attacking trio with Diaz-Kane-Olise, probably one of the best itw. And City is struggling with goals without Haaland. This is the problem. They have Olise, City Savinho.

jesus. have some faith in him ffs.
Hmmmm, the fire is gone, it was brutal to listen to his post-match interview this morning.
It's about Pep out with some who have never liked him despite his record as City manager.
I am not one of those, I love him to bits both as a manager and as a person, it's just that I think he has finally reached EOL date with us and this just above the average squad doesn't help.

Ok De Zerbi is a bit left field so I like that choice tbh, Kompany is too early and Maresca is a no no, all my opinion mind, but I like that De Zerbi shout because he has league experience with Brighton.
