Pep Guardiola - 2025/26

So many Blues wanting to replace Pep because…we’re only second, in a cup final and in two other cup competitions.
Shows you what a draw at West Ham can do, unbelievable.
Tbf many said it after United and Madrid to name but two. Last season we got hit with injuries and players left etc but the game has changed as well, it’s a good job everyone else is shit as we would be fighting for top 4 now.

I've already stated how frustrated I am with our current style of play, criticised Pep for it and want the same change we all do.

I'm just realistic in the notion that ending Pep's tenure as manager will not automatically see a return to winning and dominating as we did under him. Some Blues are of the genuine notion that Fourmidables, Centurions and Treble Winners will return once Pep goes. I, and others, are simply pointing out that that ain't gonna happen, and they should be mentally prepared for it!

Where did you get that from? Nobody is expecting that.

That's devoid of context. Being 2nd place in a tightly contested title race where both teams are hitting 90+ points is one thing, it's another that our points total will more than likely be less than 80. We've been repeatedly humiliated over the past two years including drubbings from United, Arsenal, Liverpool, Madrid etc and have been uncompetitive in the CL for the last two years.

We're a far cry from the team we used to be, we don't play the quality of football. We're essentially functioning like Ole's United side that also finished 2nd with a similar points total.
Our record against those 4 teams this season is W4, D1, L2

Our Football is crap mate and has been for the past 18 months, like itisrising said, Ole's rags finished second in the league and reached a cup final, also Ten Hag finished 3rd and won two trophies, and they were all crap too, of course Pep has got far more credit in the bank but time is running out for him to fix this, I hope he does starting this Tuesday but it ain't looking good.

Fair enough, although I’m surprised you thought we’d be good enough to win the league this season

Just one question tho, if we are fortunate enough to win the FA Cup & League Cup double & finish 2nd, would you still consider it a sub par season?
I wasn't sure we'd win the league but I didn't expect to be out of it trailing a half assed Arsenal squad by 9 points by mid March. I also didn't expect to not make it to the CL quarterfinals again. We've dropped 9 points to 3 bottom feeder clubs.

As far as winning 2 league cups I would celebrate each one, but in light of what the club expects I would still call that a sub par season. Many of our own supporters may not fancy our squad but we are far from the little engine that could. The idea that Pep is working wonders with a squad of highly paid internationals is laughable. Ask any serious talent evaluator in the sport (not rival supporters or dopey British pundits) to rank the level of our squad and see what they think of the job Pep is doing.

I dont think anyone thinks a new coach will start winning trebles etc
It was a time we will never experience ever again, fuckin ace tho wasnt it?

But do you not get that feeling that the club needs a re-fresh?

Your standards is something that rarely comes around so you will always be coming on here complaining! Maybe have high standards and complain if you don’t win at least a major is the right attitude for a club that expects high standards! Us fans who seen the shit for years, maybe we more balanced and expectance of 2/3 season winning no majos?!

You have read the thread, have you not?

And the club needs a new change in tactics, not necessarily personnel, but if we do, expect a few more seasons like this one.

Anti Pep hysteria has took over.

I’ve seen the days of sack Mac and Swales out, cant believe I’m now witnessing Pep out.

Massively...

We bought Cherki and Pep doesn't play him. I've never seen such faulty logic in my life from a fan base. Nico G plays great and doesn't see the field because Pep says so. If anyone thinks Pep has gotten the best out of this squad they don't know dick about football. If Pep were coaching a Bournemouth or a Fulham in this manner they'd be in the relegation zone. WTF are some of you actually watching? Ya want Pep to stay, great, but stop trying to gaslight people into thinking he's done a good job since the quad because he hasn't.
never said he has done a good job ,but i also think this team is weaker than his previous very succesfull ones.

But I'm not complaining about winning majors per se. I'm saying we are miles off the squad we should be all things considered. I've spent years being involved in player ID and development programs. This is only the 2nd or 3rd time I've ever brought that up on here. You don't have to go by my opinion. Do a little deep dive into the evaluations and ratings of each of our players and then make the argument we shouldn't be PERFORMING much better. I know what I know and others can think what they want. Under no serious metric in the sport can it be said that Pep is not underachieving with the current squad. Past performance and/or love for the manager are irrelevant to that. They are separate and distinct matters.

No doubt. The debate comes in when asking how much weaker? We are not as strong as some of our previous squads, but we should still be better than we are. That's the point some of us are making.

Interesting! Me I’ll back pep every day of the week and always think there is a reason to what he does squad wise team wise, as fans if we can’t give him that for what he has achieved for us yep backed to the hilt as in free reign to do what he thinks best. at moment think pep knows this team needs them some are not good enough and when he knows that he is prone to tinkering more! I’m excited to see next season how we do..

Fair enough. Question: are we a better side with Cherki on the pitch?
