What about Madrid and the money they have spent,Dortmund took four points off them, nearly six but for a last minute goal from Ozil, money spent has nothing to do with team quality,Dortmund are a quality team.

Lets sell our lot and buy some new player for £8.50 then. Dickhead.

If you spend a fucking shitload, it is not an unreasonable expectation that you should be able to assemble a better team than another lot who spent diddly squat. Or else why would you spend it.

We should be better than Dortmund. If we are not, why not?

City haven't been firing fully, sometimes that happens. Stop blowing it out of proportion.

Good grief, I haven't.

Someone else said that Dortmund are a much better side than us.

I said they shouldn't be after all the money we've spent.

How is that blowing anything out of proportion???

I think we do. We should have, considering what we have spent on them, compared to those teams.

At this level though, the best players are on both sides. I'd be more worried about not beating the shit teams, Dortmund are not a shit team. Real Madrid, Barcelona and even Chelsea have been spending millions and millions every year, it took Chelsea 10 years to win the Champions League, Dortmund never have and Madrid are 7-8 years since they won it?

At this level money doesn't mean anything and you have to expect that your going to lose at some point. Whoever wins it every year is completely down to the luck of the draw and we've got the worst possible draw 2 years on the bounce.

Dortmund are better than us. This is the same team that spanked Munich 5 matches in a row.

Yes we spend a fucking shitload, some good players but also a lot of fucking dross on silly wages. We had a clueless manager who made some questionable dodgy deals, c'mon now it's a criminal how a [£17m] Santa Cruz passed a medical.. what we paid for Lescott, PSG paid for Thiago Silva ......etc

We have one of the most expensive squad, simply because we've been ABSOLUTELY mugged

First of all,no need.

Secondly, the point still stands, just because our team and squad is more expensive than Dortmunds doesn't make us a better team,as I said, they beat Madrid at home and held them away, regardless of the cost of their team, they are German champions in a competitive German league.

Chippy_boy said:

Because you equating the quality of a team with the amount spent on it,why not look at the quality of the German league and understand that Dortmund last year were far and away the best team in it.

More expensive doesn't = better,if that was the case Andy carroll would be the 3rd best striker in the premier league, and I am sure you agree he isn't.

I wouldn't normally listen to Guillem but when it comes to Barca he knows his stuff.

I want Mancini to stay and see his work out but not qualifying for Europe knockout stages costs us £15mill a season (ish) and that's now £30million that we are 'down'. Stop seeing Mancini as the manager of a club as part of a sport, he is a manager of a business and we aren't making as much cash as we should and with FFP we need to be getting every penny in. Qualifying for Europe is a must and so to is getting out of the group stages. It will 100% end up costing him his job if this poor form in Europe continues.

If this was Tescos and they did well in England but not in Europe they'd target a CEO that had previous good form in Europe and would ask them to lead the way for them to expand into Europe. This is no different.

we also got super unlucky in our group. So i think its not really fair to sack macini. Our performance vs real was descent. We stuck in there, we lost but with hope. then dortmund was luck. the problem was Ajax.I feel like Roberto deserves another chances. ANother chance, because next year we may have an easier group! Pep wouldn't know how to handle this Man city's champions league games any better than Macini .PLEASE!!! NOT INTERESTED IN PEP!

They are a team full of quick fit players who close down the opposition at every opportunity and align that with good technical passing and movement and because there quick they can do all that at pace. Teams can't live with that. We couldn't live with that. Dortmund are better than us. Money spent or even looking how good individual players are counts for very little when a team is a great team.<br /><br />-- Sun Nov 18, 2012 1:16 am --<br /><br />

...and to two league titles in a row along with absolutely drubbing them in the cup final. And München are better than us.

Well with us he has been, knocked out twice in the europa league against pretty poor opposition and now basically knocked out in CL for the second year in a row. With the squad he hes had at his disposal its a massive underachievement which ever way you look at it.
This year hasn't been an underachievement in the CL. Dortmund and Madrid are both better than us. In many ways.
oh god. Classic expectation realignment to suit a narrative.

We are the English fucking champions. We have miles better players than Dortmund and Ajax. Therefore our results have been poor. Ludicrous to suggest anything else.
Oh god. Classic overrate the Premier League therefore overrating City argument. The four best teams in Europe don't play in the Premier League. We do have some very good players, some of our players are better than some of Dortmund's players (some of theirs are better than some of ours) but their whole collective product is better than ours, so it doesn't matter which individual players you can point to because a team is greater than its individuals.

I've been informed that if Pep does come then he will sort out the smokers in the south stand toilets......It's fookin disgraceful the way that Mancini does fook all about the tab gobblers!!!.....this is why I will be voting Pep.

There is no good reason to think Pep would to better for us than Mancini. Dont change something that arent broken.

and seriously, you really think its justified to sack Mancini for another manager? I dont want us to go down the chelsea route.

Depends on the long term visions of the owners and whether Mancini falls into that vision.
