He made an entire new position (false 9) to get the best out of Messi. Without him, Messi may have become another Ronaldo or Romario, and not the best of all time.
Ever hear of a guy called Don Revie mate?
Haha. It's amazing how much of the history of football revolves around the modern era. Pep created the false 9 position, deary me.
I'd usually let it go, but WE invented it, not Pep Guardiola.

Lol. Just had to sing in my garden, "Revie tearing Barca apart again".

A bit random I know but I felt the urge !!

I think we got it from the Hungarians when they had that great team decades ago.

Puskas? Maybe, but as far as I know we're accredited with it.
Talking about barca earlier in this thread as well, there were in particular 1 Real Madrid team, 1 Benfica team, 1 Internazionale team and 1 Bayern team that all achieved a dominance in europe that Pep's Barca could only dream of.

Seems to be the Hungarians, although this is from Wikipedia

"
"It was at Manchester City under the management of Les McDowall, Revie would play a pivotal role in the introduction to English football the playing position of a deep-lying centre forward which evolved into the so-called Revie Plan, with Revie as the central figure. His role derived from the more traditional inside right position, and was based on the style of the successful Hungarian national team, and in particular Nándor Hidegkuti, who invented the role. "

Didn't some people on here say when we got Pellers in that it was part of a plan that would see Pep here in 3 years? Sounded a bit far fetched to me at the time!

No, some said when Pelle signed that Pep will be here a few years down the line whilst he does his stuff with bayern, or words to that effect

I think Pellegrini is here to put in the philosophy Txiki wants City to play laying down a foundation for Guardiola.

I can see Vieira becoming Guardiola's assitant as well ready to take over for when Pep's time is up.

I could be wrong but that is what it looks like to me.

Pep is the ultimate long term goal.

He will be the hottest commodity in world football when he decides to leave Bayern.

If in the mean time if Real Madrid go kamikaze and sack Carlo Ancelotti, we should do everything in our power to appoint him. He is the ultimate blend of Mancini's steel and Pellegrini's attacking flair. He commands respect and has won it all.

I thought Chelsea went full blown stupid when they sacked Ancelotti after courting him for 3 years.

Pep schmep. Good manager ? Certainly.

A manager special enough to build the whole ethos of our club around in the vain hope he comes here for a couple of years ? No way Txiki you fucking charlatan

Will all the Barca lite fanboys still be wanking themselves silly over Pep if Bayern fail to overcome Madrid

For me he's proved nothing this year so far. Inherited the best team in Europe and wins domestic league with less points than last season despite gelding only rivals. Is that progress ?

Revie insisted that Ken Barnes was in the team as it was Ken who according to Revie made the formation work

It seems he is off to the Rags - he wants to work with Cleverly, Jones and Wellbeck - who wouldn't!
