Pep Ljinders appointed as assistant coach | James French joins as set-piece coach (p15)

Zero difference so far.

It doesn't seem like our set piece coach has been doing much so far.

Corners, still crap. Still hitting the first man on a regular basis. Free kicks? Meh.

Been like this for at least 5 years.

C'mon Laporte had a ton of headed goals but they dried up after he left. Infact we won the title in 18-19 on his headed goal. Also the 4th Carabao cup was Laporte's header.

But it's been 5 years.. have Ruben or Stones scored from a header??? I don't think so!!

Lately the only headed goals have come from Khusanov, Nico O'Reilly, Gvardiol and Erling.

Other than Erling I didn't see any names on the team sheet.. so Spurs knew they could relax since the other players are just not good at headers!

Why do Arsenal keep on scoring from corners and City never do?

Doesn’t our corner coach watch Arsenal games?

And if he does, why isn’t he using their corner tactics?

It’s not fucking hard to do and to replicate is it?
We did. Ref disallowed the goal due to a "foul" on the keeper.

If we did all the grabbing and pulling arsenal do at set pieces we’d be finishing every game with about 8 players on the pitch!

If French came up with the idea for the corner then he really is overpaid. Not exactly revolutionary with a corner to the back post and nodded down for a strike from the edge of the box.
What are you the club accountant? Who cares how much he’s paid?! Look at the broader context: that corner routine helped us win a game we were otherwise leaving with only a point.

Pep dedicated one goal to them each, wonderful to see. Team buzzing at the moment.
I think Linders has had a big impact. The team are much more proactive in possession and are moving the ball much faster than last season. More direct without becoming a lump it long team. Pep suggested as much in his interview yesterday joking that he was now “assistant manager.”

As pep got previous for congratulating his coaching staff like he did Saturday.
There obviously earning there wages and giving contributions.
We don't seem to have a good free kick taker so you can't expect miracles.

If my lip reading is as good as I think it is, after the first goal Pep runs to Linders and says "you are the best". Presumably a tactical tweak related at HT
It was and it was picked up by MOTD, Reijnders was a lot deeper first half, they changed it so he was closer to the box and Haaland and within 2 or 3 mins he scored

From Viana's coffee mornings with Pep, to Pep prepping Pep with a tactical tweak, to all of the buys we have made to add to the squad, it's a team game, Geoff.

does anyone else in their mind see Pep, Pep & Viana stood in front of a subbuteo pitch each holding a coffee mug whilst Pep#1 is pushing around little sky blue figures saying "what do you theeeenk gentlemen?"

I reckon they run a Whatsapp Subbuteo group, Hugoteo, and wellbeing sessions dedicated to painting the players.
