Pep: 'The players deserve a full stadium, we need our fans!'

The current match attending fan base is very different to that when we first moved from Maine Rd.

The match attending fan base immediately before we left Maine Rd was very different to that 15 years earlier, in the era before all seater stadia.

The match attending fan base 30 years ago was very different from the match attending fan base in the 50s and early 60s.

No doubt in 15 years time the recent "newbies" and "plastics" will be complaining that the new fans in the 2030's are very different to them.

The club loses 2-3,000 fans every year. Mostly for reasons which have very little to do with the club, more about the impact of death, old age, kids and careers. In order to survive and prosper the club has to attract new fans, who will be different to the ones that they replace and will inevitably change the culture of the club.

We'll have to cut Pep some slack, he's used to this....

If you look carefully they have fans orchestrating the songs etc, one guy in grey facing towards and one in white as do most continental sides.

If it gets folk going then fuck it, why not?

i dont think that would be a good idea, more than likely you would get fans flogging them off or have situation where people can't get tickets for more competitive ties. if season ticket holders can't be bothered then citizens should be the ones that benefit.

It worked fine last season. You can't give away tickets for the lower profile games mate.

The Club would have tougher buying restrictions for the bigger games like one per person for the semi final.

Ok so in simple terms you said "mutually exclusive" which mean both statements cannot be true yes?

1) They got the message on one hand because we heard they were thinking about taking action against the club for it but quickly backed off because of the wider reaction to the possibility of it.

2) On the other hand I said people are clutching at straws as to a reason to continue in spite of them getting the message... that being proposed changes by a minority of members from UEFA(that consists of many members I thought) that have not been approved and in my opinion wont be approved.

How can you not see the statements were not mutually exclusive?

Flogging a dead horse seems to me the absolute antithesis of complaining about things that haven't happened yet. They are of necessity mutually exclusive. That said, I respect your right to disagree, perhaps we should leave it there.

I will never understand united, liverpool, arsenal fans etc from across the globe who have never been to England in their lives going on about empty seats. Bizarre.
I don't understand City fans from where ever that are going on about empty seats that had no intention of going Tuesday or Wednesday but still happy to express their opinion on why "we" shouldn't boo and why "we" should support the manager and attend the games. If you're that arsed about it go and don't boo. Fill a seat and don't boo. If you think the atmosphere was crap fill a seat and sing.

I posted last night I was buzzing after I got back, the performance was brilliant, the atmosphere was brilliant, the attendance was brilliant, I was bearing in mind it's not easy to bugger off to watch football 2 nights on the run. Ten minutes reading on here the buzz disappeared quicker than Pogba in a Manchester derby.

How about a new song for Saturday.....

No one likes us
No one likes us
We don't care

No one likes us
Even the manager
No one likes us
We dont care.

The leaving early bit is starting to irritate for the first time. We really are the worst fans in the division when it comes to leaving early during very good performances . It looks really bad and you don't see it anywhere else to anything like the extent we do it. Our lads deserved a better response to what was a truly wonderful performance last night but half the crowd fucked off early. It's getting to be a bit of a habit. Also, the scum and dippers use pics of the empty seats at the end of a game to suggest these seats were unsold/unoccupied and Talk Shite laps it up.

Pam, how many Prem grounds have you experienced first hand to come to that conclusion.

And how many of those take at least an hour to get off the club car park every time if you don't leg it with a couple of minutes to go, every game and even when a game is called off?

We can makes excuses, but Sheik Mansour saved this club and gave us the step up from Lee Bradbury/Andy Morrison to Sergio Aguero/ Kevin de Bruyne. Also, the stadium is second to none, and a slight improvement to the hotchpotch that was Maine Road. He should be listened to if he is prepared to invest in expanding the stadium. If fans continue to sulk about the UCL and leave early, the likes of Spurs and West Ham will continue to fill their grounds, Chelsea will start to think and expand theirs too, and we will eventually be slipping backwards again. I was disappointed to see a 5/8ths full stadium on telly last night. I know I was not there, but I now live 300 miles away, and can only make occasional trips. with no more home games until 15th October, and given the team's 100% win ratio in competitive games, I fully support Pep's post-match comments last night.

You dont

I'm not talking about just last night and I've watched enough prem football to see that we really are quite bad for it by comparison to others. That's my impression, anyway. It's fair enough if the team plays shit but that's probably going to be a rarity under Pep.

I blame some of this on bone-headed policing and closing roads and shit but still.

This thread brought us all down to earth with a bump, bad timing from pep no doubt about that,he said it pre-match no need to say it again and under the circumstances

You dont

Do you stay to the end every week?

I wonder, has he been told by somebody at the club to say something like this?

A lot of our fans are completely in love with him already, maybe he/the club know that and so this may actually be very clever of him to come out and say this because people won't wanna disappoint him!
