Pep to leave at the end of the season

Doesn’t mean he’s as good a manager as Emery, Klopp, etc though.
Doesn’t mean he won’t be either, how would you feel about a manager from a relegated Bundesliga club maybe the St Pauli manager.Probably the same as a lot of Bayern fans felt 2 summers ago about the relegated Burnleymanager, yet those a Bayern saw something more. Need to trust those at the club that haven’t got it wrong yet,it may not work, that goes for ny manager, but there is no way any of us can know that it won’t.
Besides your point wasn”t about how good he is it was bout attracting players without Pep.

I wonder if people would be more 'excited' about the idea of Maresca if he was still Pep's no.2, rather than having gone out and done ok at Leicester and not ok at Chelsea. Then he'd maybe be seen as an unknown to the world but known to the club continuity unearthed potential gem.

Putting aside the weight of following Pep.

I think what he did at Chelsea was impressive in the situation

Not sure what to expect.
The Maresca who guided Chelsea to the World Club Championship and got Leicester promoted, or the Maresca that both Leicester and Chelsea fans disliked for the slow passing sideways build up style of play.

While I think probably not, I have seen one or two suggesting Linders over Maresca which I find a bit odd. I sort of understand the preference of Kompany and Enrique and I’d have them at the top of my list depending on availability.
However considering over the past few years we’ve seen people wanting Ten Hag, Amorin, and others that have faded away we can see there’s a lot more to picking the right man than just what they’ve won at different clubs.
If this is all true, and maybe it isn’t then we can assume all those that need to have done a lot of due diligence and Maresca has shown enough qualities at Leicester and Chelsea to convince them, whereas all we really have are opinions and prejudices from the clubs he’s managed, not how he works in close detail that Viana, Pep and if they wanted to consult people like Txiki and Lilo would have.

Its not as exciting as say Enrique, Kompany, or Alonso, but he is very Pep-coded and will retain the style the most so I get it.

Its just not exciting or sexy, but I can accept it as a stop gap until we can get Kompany.

Exactly, for me I think he will be the best fit for the club, there's a lot to be said for someone stepping into an organisation if that person knows the drill and the direction that organisation wants to travel in, failing that Vinny would be my next choice,if both aren't available then it has to be big Sam :)
