Experience is needed.

If not Pepe, who would fit the bill?

only Pepe and Adil Rami seems availabe for experienced CB.

Not to harp on about it but Miranda was better than both Pepe and Rami last season. He's 28 too so experienced enough.

Re: Pepe

I have a feeling Ancelotti wants to go with experience next year with Ramos and Pepe being the main center half pairing.

We might have to look elsewhere.

Transfer news: Real Madrid's Pepe guarded over Manchester City links

Real Madrid defender Pepe has remained coy over his future following speculation linking him with Manchester City.

Recently installed City boss Manuel Pellegrini worked with the Portuguese player during his time in charge of Real, and is looking to bring in more new faces to his squad.

Real supremo Florentino Perez claimed Pepe was not for sale in July, and Pellegrini would not be drawn when asked about the 30-year-old on City's recent pre-season visit to Hong Kong.

Former City captain Kolo Toure left the 2012 Premier League champions for Liverpool when his contract expired this summer, and with England international Joleon Lescott entering the final year of his deal at City, another defender could be on Pellegrini's wish-list.

But speaking after Real's pre-season friendly with Everton in Los Angeles, Pepe was guarded when asked about a possible move away from the Bernabeu.

"I'm a professional. They left a lot of things at the end of last season but I have a contract to fulfil," said Pepe, who played in both Real Madrid v Man City matches in last season's Champions League.

"I'm talking to the president of Madrid and my representatives to see what will happen.

"I have a contract, I love the club and I have great affection for the people,"

Re: Pepe

Well those quotes certainly weren't aiming to end any speculation.

"They left a lot of things at end of last season" - what is he referring to?

Player(s), former manager, and decision makers basically all hate(d) each other

I would guess contract discussions while a new manager was appointed.

Re: Pepe

I would LOVE Pepe to join us. Yes, he's a bit on the rough side, and yes likes to take a player down every so often. But isn't that exactly why we loved De Jong??

Different position and Pepe only got a couple of good seasons left in him which is when our young CBs will become understudies to Nasty. Would be a good signing IMO. For the right money that is. £15-20M
