Pep's contract situation | 2 year extension confirmed! (pg1817)

In our prime Kovacic would have been a squad player only, coming off the bench and occasional game.

He is a great pro and top player but having him as a first choice player shows how weak we have become in MF.

Even with peak Rodri , midfield was our weakest area for a couple of seasons, everyone has grown old together.
Kovacic is at his best playing alongside a 6. He’s even said in interviews he’s most uncomfortable as a 6. Sadly we aren’t even getting the best out of him with how unbalanced our midfield is

Kyle Walker trained for 60 minutes on Friday for the first time in 16 days.

He knew he was fully fit or in match condition.

He volunteered to play because the medics were concerned about over stressing Rico Lewis.

Kyle MAY be past his peak, and it'll take 5 games to get back to full condition, but he's still got a role to play this season as a valuable member of the squad and club captain.

Be respectful of a player who was the best right back in the world for the past 5 seasons.
WASN'T WASN'T WASN'T

Walker has been a magnificent player in our shirt but the signs were there last season of a player in decline, once that incredible pace was to fade he would always struggle as he was never the brightest of players.

We have done little in the last couple of windows and allowed the rest to catch up, we must not allow that to happen anymore, the next two windows will be time to make serious statements.

Only outpaced on one occasion by that Powder Hall sprinter from Fulham who out runs everyone.

Can't think of anyone else who's out run him !!

We have conceded so many goals via the vacant right back position this season. I was hoping Akanji would play there more but he's been needed in the middle to cover Stonesy and Ruben

His ability to recover is done, he is our biggest weakness in the back four just a sad fact of a player in decline.

The biggest mistake we can make is be too loyal to players.
