Pep's contract situation | 2 year extension confirmed! (pg1817)

I think the premier league suits what he wants, top teams able to turn each other over and here the pressure will be different from Spain or Germany, possibly the cup competition gives him enough kudos to accept the downtimes - if you can call it that.
It may well be his chance to build a team, which is one thing that gets thrown at him.
Maybe he just gets us, if it is then it's an addiction and we all know how that feels.

On second thoughts, hold the extension talk. I'm hearing from a well respected pundit on the true geordie kick off show that we may not want to keep Pep after all.

Looking ahead. Pep lost his mother and has had time to grieve and reflect. Not just football but the whole world dynamic has changed.

Why would he not want to extend his stay with City compared to the alternatives?

Good question to ask, but I’d say this is impossible to predict.
After his loss, he might want to turn his back on the whole football circus for a while and/or return back to his homeland and have his wife and children ‘back home’ nearby to the rest of his wider surviving family.
Or like you say, he may want to stay with City. Hope you’re right mate,
but impossible to begrudge him if not.

I think he’ll want to go home
