Pep's contract situation | 2 year extension confirmed! (pg1817)

It's very valid and maybe a decision has to me made very, very soon.

We need partially rebuilding , I don't want a man in charge who will probably walk in 12 months time.

And if he does want to stay for another 1-2 years, does the club want him?

The club want to win the Champions League, a serious and honest question, is Pep the man to help us achieve that?
on the evidence of the last 4 seasons. Thats an unequivocal no.

I'm going to preface this by saying that I know I'm going to come off as an entitled twat...

...but for most of my adult life, City have been a really good team. I didn't live through the many "typical City" or "same old city" moments.

Still, I feel like we need to evaluate Pep's performance. This season, for me, was no better than Pellegrini's final year albeit with a much better squad.

Repeated failures in the CL, the makeshift defense, etc need to be put under a microscope more. I understand that this is the best few years in City's history.

While Pep is arguably the greatest manager of our generation, some times a new face, a new voice can make the difference. I am unsure whether I want Pep to sign an extension or not. I do not know who would come in to take us to the next level or fix our multiple issues with defense and/or defensive system.

I love what Pep has done, I truly do but one thing that always irked me was when he would, during CL, talk about how "we're not ready", we're "teenagers" in the competition, we don't have the history of the "elite" cartel teams. It may be true but constantly harping on it doesn't really do anything. That doesn't give off confidence. If anything, Pep's tactics during CL knockout stages have shown insecurity and fear. Against Liverpool, first leg, our setup was based off fear and caution. Same thing against Tottenham, first leg and against Lyon. He famously said "we need to learn to play football with courage". He needs to show that in his setup and lineup selection.

FurthermoreI couldn't care less about history. We're City, we don't live in the past. We make our own history.

If we are set up with the right tactics and playing our game, how we play, we can go toe to toe against anyone. I truly believe that.

Anyone with a brain could've seen that playing a midfield with Ferna, Rodri and Gundogan would be suicide. There is literally no energy in that midfield. Also, I understand it's not just Pep and there were numerous individual errors but the blame lies at the helm. I don't think the setup was the right call to put the players in the best position to win.

I have more, jumbled thoughts about this and everything else but I don't even know how to type it out. I'm sure it's just emotions and I'm upset at the loss but whatever.

I'll still 100% support Pep, any player that wears our shirt and the club but as fans we have the right to feel emotional and critical of the club we love when expectations aren't met.

You act as if we will land everyone we want. Doesn't happen won't happen. That is the reason why clubs have shortlist of players. And we weren't going to pay over the odds for CBD or Maguire
I don't act like anything. I'm stating facts. The reality is that this club does spend a lot on overall transfers but doesn't like to pay over the odds for a single player. That sometimes puts us at a disadvantage in transfer negotiations.

He wanted Alves, Sanchez, Jorginho, and Maguire , not only is he losing the plot in the Champions League, also in picking a player!
And Mbappe never wanted to sign for us, he made that clear, he did not want to move to Manchester.
Done with this conversation. You've lost it. Good day.

I dont believe that is entitled. A great many will feel the same. Should we not expect better than that from the best coach in the world and one of the very best squads. Playing a team who are ranked below Southampton and Burnley.

For me, he needs to either commit his future to the club this summer, or leave this summer. Going into a rebuild with uncertainty over the manager’s future would be a recipe for disaster.
I think this is the more reasoned position.

With the best will in the world we have seen on numerous occasions spanning a lot of clubs that a Manager known to be in their last 12 months tend to struggle.

If he has no intention of staying and one of our favoured candidates is / can be made available, then surely we look towards the next 5 years instead of the next 12 months?

There were some bad individual errors during the game, but our team selection and formation nullified our array of attacking talent and the way we play 99% of the time.

Without question I want pep to stay for years to come , I just want him to trust our best players in the best formation?! When the dippers play a big game you instantly know who’s playing for them and klopp trusts his players to do the business? Pep over thinks constantly and I wonder if that at times gets to the players? Last night he should have shit Lyon up when they seen our team sheet yet I’m sure it give them a boost seeing our midfield set up the way it did?! De Bruyne looked totally fucked off and pep not even bringing on Bernardo and Foden at any point was truly incredible!
