Pep's contract situation | 2 year extension confirmed! (pg1817)

They do want to win the CL. As it stands if Pep stays we will do exceptionally domestically. Few FA cups and Carling cups here and there. But the CL is anyone's call irrespective of who we buy. Does this hugely expensive project and one of the highest paid manager at the helm is for winning the PL or the CL or both.
This is something the board may have to think about. Because as far as I am concerned, along with a lot of other posters, CL with Pep is a very unlikely scenario.
His constant "were are not yet ready to win the Champions league" or " we have little of no history in europe" is pissing me off.
We as a club have spent hundreds of millions on the world's best players, have the best facilities available, have hired the "world's best coach" yet he knocks us down all the time, why?

If I was Khaldoon, baldy would be in my office Monday morning for a serious chat, and sign on the dotted line (contract extension) or adios and gracias.

If United sacked Ferguson after every less than stellar season or after any particularly stupid cup elimination he would have been sacked 20 times at least.

If next season things continue on a downward trend, then fine, there's a discussion to be had. Or if this season had been a Mourinho at Chelsea level catastrophe, then sure, ask away. But sacking a manager one year off of a unprecedented domestic treble without any room for a turnaround is the kind of arrogant thing many of the clubs we profess to hate do for fun.

Some of you should try showing a bit of loyalty to the most successful ever manager of Manchester City. To turn on him so easily is in such poor taste.

There's little doubt in my mind that an increasingly large proportion of our fan base is becoming entitled. Yesterday was a shit-show, Pep fucked up with his team selection and tactics in the CL KO stages again and it does need sorting, but that's no reason to ignore all the great stuff from the last few years and bin him off for what would undoubtedly be a lesser man.

it's football, shit happens

You think Pep's crunching numbers in his basement coming up with transfer targets? He probably tells Txiki the profile of player that he wants, who then works with the scouting and analytics department to find the the best players for that role. Sure he might put in a phone call at the behest of the club to convince a player to join, but all transfer selections and negotiations are handled by Txiki and more than a dozen unnamed people at the club. Don't blame Pep for what he's not responsible for.
He gets the players he wants or asks for. He has complete carte blanche at this football club.

If he wanted a CB last summer, his best mate Fu***d up big time.

Look at the players that we didn't sign and were supposedly Pep's first choice -

VVD - bought by Liverpool (we turned our nose at the 75 mil price tag), we signed Laporte
Mbappe - bought by PSG, couldn't even get the player to agree the personal terms
Alves - bought by PSG, we signed Danilo and then Cancelo
Sanchez - bought by United, we signed Mahrez
Jorginho - bought by Chelsea, we didn't sign anyone
Frenkie De Jong - bought by Barca, we signed Rodri
Maguire - bought by United, we didn't sign anyone

We like to pretend that Pep has been given what he wants every time, but the reality is that the club is able to get the 1st choice targets only 50% of the time.

If he has complete carte blanche, then why has us losing out on 1st choice targets been a recurring theme?

You act as if we will land everyone we want. Doesn't happen won't happen. That is the reason why clubs have shortlist of players. And we weren't going to pay over the odds for CBD or Maguire

He wanted Alves, Sanchez, Jorginho, and Maguire , not only is he losing the plot in the Champions League, also in picking a player!
And Mbappe never wanted to sign for us, he made that clear, he did not want to move to Manchester.
